Has anyone ever had experience with a Disney cruise? I've always shunned away from cruises because I think I'd get seasick. But, we're willing to try something short, like the California Coast one.

Go to cruisecritic.com to get more information on different ships and the short trips of 4 days.

Never worry about getting sea sick. All you have to do is buy the motion sickness pills and just take one before your cruise starts to get your sea legs. Eat lots of food on the ship. It helps a lot.

I have been cruising for 30 years and have never gotten sea sick. Even when the ship can be rocking and rolling when strong winds hit the ships sometimes or when the waves are choppy.

Have fun reading all the info you need from cruisecritic.com. Don''t ask a lot of questions because you can read the answers to all your questions if you take the time.
They do have a section for first time cruisers. Look for it. LucyR.

The only negative I've heard about Disney cruises is that several cruisers have commented on seeing some GIANT mice aboard! :D
I believe they've named them Mickey and Minnie...

I get sick in my small fishing boat on my home lake, but on both of our cruises I've been just fine!

Best wishes if you decide to give cruising a try!

My family did a Disney cruise 2 years ago and we had a great experience. There are Disney movies playing all day on a big screen at the pool, and lots of chances to meet your favorite characters. There is also a kids area that the parents can drop off the children and they can go have some adult time. I much preferred the cruise to the actually Disney land, and would do one again.

I have 6 children and I wouldn't go on a Disney cruise. The reason is there are so many parents that don't discipline their kids and there are bound to be tons of screaming entitled brats on that cruise. I don't want to have to deal with someone else's problem child when I'm on vacation. I just got back from a 10 day Caribbean cruise last month. I took my 7 and 9 year olds on Royal Princess. They loved it. There are tons of kids activities and a kids club. There was Top Chef Junior at Sea that my daughter participated in and baked a cake. There were only 30 kids on the entire ship and it was perfect. Everyone on board and even on our excursions commented how well behaved my kids were and that they didn't even realize they were on the catamarans because they were so good. If you want to relax while your children are behaving and having a great time, don't do Disney. Someone else's child will be driving you nuts. Lol Just my opinion, but if I'm spending a bunch of money for a vacation, I would not want 1500 kids screaming, splashing, and having me stressed because I'm afraid they are going to drown because the parents aren't watching them.

Hoofy, I strongly disagree. I have been on four different Disney cruises and that was not my experience on any of them. Parents overwhelmingly were responsible for their children. The boats are well staffed and they specialize in dealing with children of all ages. Trust me - you won't feel like you have to "deal with someone else's problem child"! :) It isn't the same crowd that you typically see at the theme parks. I will say "don't knock it 'till you try it"... Disney does all of the things that you and your kids enjoyed on the Royal Princess cruise, in spades.

OP - if you are considering a cruise with the kids, I would recommend Disney for the reasons above. The boats are immaculate and the food was significantly better than other cruise lines. I agree with the other poster about preferring the cruise over the theme park. The big negative? It ain't cheap. You will be paying top dollar.

You are correct, I haven't been on a Disney cruise. But my experience with most younger parents ( my hubby is 55 and I'm 42 and we are older than most of the other parents in our youngest 2's classes) is they don't discipline what so ever. I have Birthday parties and just can't believe the things the kids friends say and do. Theme parks are a nightmare in my opinion. Lol I just avoid them altogether. The cruise I was looking at for later this year ( before I knew I was picking up another free one on Carnival) was on Viking Cruise line? It looked really nice but after reading I saw it's one we will have to take without kids because it's not at all kid friendly. I've raised enough kids to finally know what I'm doing and this younger generation for the most part....they are not doing it right. Lol My kids had a great time on the Royal Princess but it definitely was an older crowd. Next time though I'll look for more kids activities and one with water slides, but not QUITE as many kids as Disney. ;)

Cruises are lots of fun. You'll pay a lot more for the name "Disney". You can have a great time with Carnival for less $$.
