I have the latest equipment for DIRECTV. It is my understanding that a landline phone is no longer required.

Does anyone have experience with this?

I do have an internet connection.

No landline needed. Have D-TV for 10+ years and no landline.

    Well there ya go.

Do you need a phone line for Direct TV?
In the early days of DIRECTV, phone lines were used for ordering pay-per-view. ... If your receiver isn't connected to the internet, you will still need a phone line connection if you order pay-per-view using your remote, but if you order through a phone call or from your computer, you don't need a phone line.Oct 30, 2013

I bought an adapter so I'm wireless to the internet.

As others have said you dont HAVE to have one, if you disconnect the phone the receiver will stop enabling ordering directly through it.

I have DTV and a landline. I'd love to get rid of the Verizon landline but I have DSL internet on the landline bundled with DTV and thought they one told me in order to get the Verizon DSL I needed the land line.
