It seems the Rio/Strip shuttle was canned.
Is there another way to get from the strip to/from RIO via shuttle?

I believe the Gold Coast (next door) has a shuttle to the Strip. I'm sure others will chime in for more detail.

When I was there in May, I took the free shuttle from Gold Coast. I believe it goes from Gold Coast to Orleans to Strip (behind High Roller @ The Linq). I've also seen numerous posts about a bus that gets you to the strip for $2.

My time in Vegas is too short - if I need to head to the rio and back, I take an uber/lyft and eat the $8.

Whatever you do, do NOT walk from the strip to the Rio. It's much farther than you think and it's not safe (no sidewalks). The Coast shuttle sometimes will ask for room key to take care of the staying guests first. Just do the Uber/Lyft and enjoy the ride.

For the price of a cocktail you can take an Huber or even a cab....both are air conditioned.

If you exit from the Rio right by the poker room, there is a walkway with a traffic light to cross Valley View into the Gold Coast parking garage. A little more convenient (and safe?) than crossing at Flamingo or jaywalking.

Although it’s not the most pleasant walk, there are sidewalks and eventually you get to a pedestrian walkway. Cars do whiz by. Don’t walk in the hot sun. I only do the walk when it’s cool (not summer).

You can take a bus there. And if you catch a cab or do ride share from the Cromwell, the fare shouldn't be all that bad.

    Cheapest: Walk.
Cheap: Bus. From the strip, it is $2 and every 20 minutes. Stops are either near the escalator by Caesars or between Cromwell and Stage Door.
    Still cheap: Uber/Lyft.
    Not that bad: Taxi.

    ok thanks.
I suggested to just take Uber/Lyft or even cab from where we are staying but my wife is wanting to walk 30 minutes to get closer to save an extra $1 in fees. :p
