Yep, last couple nights
So they tried to open a nee table with 5-6 names right as a tourney was starting. Get your chips, 3 show up, 2 open seats on the other table and im back on the wait list.
Down a bit more than 100, in over two hours no pots won at showdown
Down 187 still no showdowns won. Lost a big hand chasing a flush, getting it back in increments.
4 hours in i won my first pot a showdown with a river straight and minimal action.
Short time later i flop a straight and get paid 3 streets. Down 140ish
Key hand of the session. 7 handed , cutoff opens to 13, i 3 bet in the sb to 40 withKQ suited. He calls and i flop the nut straight. He pays off on the flop with queens but folds to my turn shove.
A couple small wins later and i book a 6 dollar profit
Picked up my diamond show tickets. Madcap comedy tonight, Crazy Girls friday
I will do my diamond dinner at Old Homestead tonight before the show, mixed with some Cromwell VP revenge
The old homestead menu is huuge. Thats square footage, not selection to be clear.
Lobster Bisque. Excellent
Truffle butter gnocchi and green beans
The ribeye was over. Medium or a bit past. They are refiring and keeping the beans warm. Wouldn’t let them take away the gnocchi though. I inhaled it
The refire was very good and arrived promptly.
Had about 2/3, pondering saving the remainder for breakfast.
Back to the room to drop off my leftovers. Will unwind here for a bit before heading to Cromwell then Harrahs
Final cheque at Old Homestead:
Overall thoughts, I had an enjoyable experience, although a refire is a smaller deal for a solo diner.
The soup and sides were all excellent, and no complaints with the service. They happily let me half order a side (are you reading this BLT Steak?). They were prompt and friendly and right on top of the refire. Only thing they could have done better is knock something small off the bill for the hassle.
And they made their steak mistake right, and it was a nice and well cooked cut. Honestly though, getting the temp right is fairly important and that first steak was an uneven cut and a but over on the THICK end. So they both cooked it wrong and to me a place charging that a la carte price should not be prepping a portion it is tough to get an even cook on.
Overall I enjoyed the experience enough that i would happily eat there again, but they fall in begind my favourites (SW, CUT, Delmonico and Gordon Ramsey).
Also fyi for solo diners not sure i would dine in the bar again. Their low back stools were not super comfortable, so despite excellent bartenders and a decent atmosphere, id probably dine at the table if i went back.
Taking suggestions for tomorrow s dinner. Ill probably use my ph buffet comp on breakfast as i have a wynn dinner buffet Friday most likely. Leftover steak for a small lunch.
8pm show so proximity to Park MGM and serving pace will be key. Moderate portions. Budget medium (50-70 pre tip). Flexible as to cuisine. I could default to Eataly but ate there last trip so open to ideas.
Breaking even in that spot is a win in my book. Nice job climbing out of the hole!
You know your confidence was low when you take a pic of a flush on quarters in case it is your best hand on a 100 dollar budget ...
Only posting this because i was about to ask what the record was for consecutive two pair held without improving.
Desperately needed ...
Still not in good shape but double last nights coin in and still alive
And ... profit ...
Not going back below even
