I'm going to go out on a limb and predict another mall full of celebrity restaurants and gift shops. Maybe a CVS. ;)

Maybe they could add some retail space with a CVS or Walgreens. I don't think there are enough on the strip.

Seriously, each property has just about the same retail outlets and high end stores, so how much more retail space is really needed? Louis Vuitton boutiques on every street corner?

Surely there's another celebrity chef out there that wants to open a restaurant on the strip? Maybe the one that looks like Guy Fieri's twin sister?

What else is there that is absolutely necessary for the strip experience? More kid friendly venues? Um, no. Another coaster and one of those slingshot rides? Mini amusement park. That sounds like a great idea. Sell a bunch of millenials drinks by the yard then buckle them in for 30 seconds at 4Gs. I'd feel bad for the fool responsible for clean up after each ride...

If they do it, you will see two things:

    1) Lots of retail.

    2) They will mess up the sidewalk in such a way as to wind through the retail and/or to the casino. No walking straight lines past the property.

Can never have enough celebrity chefs and drug stores, right?

Maybe they'll add a combination celebrity restaurant - drug store. Get your pharmaceuticals and sundries cooked up to order for a premium price.

Need something new. Go back to Caesar's roots in ancient Rome....An eating hall with Gladiator fights and some sort of a tribute to Caligula....Like the Tournament of Kings...Only for Emperors. And we can all wear our Togas because after midnight it turns into a Giant Toga Party!

I can see where they'd want to build it up...it seems like a big patch of low-revenue generating space in a prime area. I'm just hoping it's not shops....am I the only one that has ZERO interest in shopping in Vegas? Great link, thanks for sharing!

We are right there with you. We might walk through shops and window shop a bit - but we have just as many stores at home and do not buy stuff in Vegas. We come home with the same luggage and stuff as we arrived with. (maybe less cash though).

Unless you are from another country with less shops or really live out in the "sticks" - I don't get the shopping in Vegas thing at all.

Coming from other countries (we're from the UK) there are some different shops and different stuff even if we have the brand, some stuff is only available in the US. Also, cost of living is generally cheaper in America, even with the poor exchange rate at present, many goods, particularly clothes, are about a third cheaper in general. It pays for me, after an 11 hour flight, to take advantage as I can't get their too often! Admittedly, it's maybe half a day shopping on a 7 day trip but still worth it!

Others scoff at the notion, but I think it's only a matter of time before the Bellagio fountains are turned into something that directly generates revenue. That's a whole lotta prime real estate just sitting there lookin' pretty. You can't tell me the thought hasn't crossed some suit's mind.

re: Bellagio. Yes, I am sure it cross many "suits" minds many times. Then they realize they have a real brand with those fountains. If they were gone, they would just be another big casino. Many restaurants would no longer have great views. People would not longer stop out front. People would reduce traffic through the casino. on and on and on...

That makes TOTAL sense, thanks for sharing that perspective!!!!

There are a huge chunk of international visitors, and while shopping domestically in Vegas isn't as much fun, it IS fun (and more affordable at times) when someone hops across the pond. :) I might be shopping in your shoes too, roles reversed.

Thanks again for the insight....that was a great point!

I tend to agree, someone will have to top the fountains as a Vegas icon before they'll change it. Cosmo and CET would probably pay them to keep it, lol.

More retail doesn't make sense when it will compete with the Forum Shoppes. But they can expand on the restaurant and bar they already have and add more. Maybe there is some sort of attraction they can add. But outside retail will hurt what's already going on in the casino and mall.
