Some people just do not understand the need to get the correct alcohol to oxygen ratio flowing through your blood system WELL BEFORE you hit Vegas. It is the only proven way to avoid the dizziness, heat stroke and nose bleeds that will strike the unwary in a desert climate.:wink2:

I've got to admit I wasn't happy to read the Cosmo top guy Unwin came from Caesars Palace where he worked from 2004-2009.

Not that I don't like Caesars, I've only stayed there once for 6 nights in Aug 2009 in the Palace Tower and it was fantastic.

I just have really high hopes for Cosmo and anything "Harrah's" related scares me. It seems like Caesars is the only place I can't find a $10 or $15 craps table at times, the gaming conditions are "Harrah's" (enough said), and I've just never really won there. The only exception being my diamond in a day run on that trip.

So as long as crotchety dealers and cocktail waitresses who peaked in 1967, along with 7/5 $1 minimum DDB VP and $25 minimum craps tables aren't what Unwin learned at Caesars I think it will be quite enjoyable for me.

The best thing will be I can compare in real time as I'll have rooms in both Cosmo and the Augustus Tower on the 16th-18th.

    Should be interesting to compare.

Also I will be making every effort to post what I can here live from the Cosmo opening. Lets hope the AT&T signal is better than Aria's was!:evillaugh

Caesars table minimums do get grossly high, that is one negative of the property. Qua spa is definitely one of the best on the strip in my opinion and that weekday special is a steal, and it's been running for about a year now I think.

Car trunk bars aren't the most practical things, when digging through the luggage, but I have to say, that large pour of 3 Olives into the Frozen mocha was a great way to kickoff the day.

Exactly. Bellagio across the street often has $10 craps.

I'm going to able to catch Pnut for a couple days this trip Jinx. I may have to hit up the trunk bar lol. Although I'll have to make sure he doesn't pour me anything too good as I wouldn't know the difference.

BeeeJay, you know that if the craps limits are too high at Caesars that JNCVH will drag us over to O'Sheas lol

Hmmm, I'll look forward to your comparison of Cosmo vs Caesars. I was thinking about booking Cosmo for a weekend in January because new is supposed to be fun, but if this guy brought all the same crap that made Caesars' casino suck to Cosmo, I'd rather stay and play somewhere else.

I completely understand Macker, I stick to the middle of the road stuff, but always a good thing to hit the trunk bar. Although I would recommend against the whole bottle of watermelon schnapps :) or any for that matter, I'd stick with the jagermeister

Hmm Drinking a bottle of Watermelon Schnapps and then puking in the Mansion > then spilling a double Mac 30 in the Mansion?

I aint gambling at Osheas and Bellagio has always had, without exception, $10 craps when I have been there.

I'm dialing in from Edmonton right now and for those of you who have never heard of it....all you need to know is that its cold! Vegas is gonna seem like Phoenix in August in 8 days!

I'm not picky boys, I'll drink anything and gamble and puke anywhere.

yeah always loved those $5 tables at O'Sheas and that $10 table at Bellagio or Aria. We shouldn't have too much trouble finding the $5 tables this trip during the post-cowboy party lull.

Well ladies and germs, as they say....

It is time to GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!!!

    or more aptly...

GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!!!!

after hearing tale after tale from the Canadian Elite of cash showering upon them from their local casinos and their bulging bankrolls in anticipation of next weeks festivities, I decided what is good for the Canucks, is good for the Gander.

I focused my attention for the first time on that ghetto-ass mailer from Harrah's Joliet.

It contained a $25 Reel Rewards certificate, no human interaction required, always a plus!:evillaugh

There was a also a $20 dining certificate for the buffet, cafe or steak place. Further research via the website indicated this coupon would be good also at Ace's diner due to the temporary closure of the buffet.

All this temptation was never enough, but with the cold weather containing the family inside, and effectively distilling the wife's nagging into a concoction more potent than Uncle Jessie's Moonshine, I decided the trip was called for.

A trip to the ATM for a $300 bankroll to supplement the coupon:

....and I was off for what I knew would be a long and horrific drive thru brutal Chicago traffic. Luckily for me I chose a 10:30am departure and only got stuck behind one accident:

    :grrr::grrr::grrr:

    and one open drawbridge:

and I was there in just shy of 90 minutes. brutal. the outside and neighboring areas reminded me of what I had read about the depression.

I was no more impressed until I actually entered the property and found it to be rather JOLLY. Like the squirrels outside Milton's desk.

A small place, I checked it all out and quickly found a Mississippi Stud table!!! Alas, it was full:

yeah i know crappy picture. sue me, I thought they might send security. or as my kids call it. "social security, you are under arrested"

So after taking these minor pics I clicked on the old email and found my VPFree2 directions to the 98.98% $1 DDB VP where I would make my stand. It was over by the bar as directed.

I bought in with the $25 certificate, no problem, and threw a $100 bill in because scared money never wins!!!!

Got some good stuff right off the bat. nothing big mind you, after 9-10 hands I had built a $20 profit of 3 sets of trips, two dealt in three hands, but just couldn't pop that $50 profit I had set as a goal. Then it happened.

    Can.

    I

    Get

    A

    BOOM BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not quite the mother of all hands, nor even the mother of all quads, but a $1 freeplay DDB Quad Aces for $800 never bankrupted anybody!!!

So I made the prudent play and cashed that mutha out:

Now it was time to check out the Diamelle Lounge. And a nice one it was. Best I've ever seen. Check out the grub!

I decided to forego said sweet-n-sour chicken and use my $20 dining coupon as I grabbed a free Diet Dew from the self-serve fountain. nice. my favorite.

I headed over to Ace's diner and gave my coupon to a puzzled recently released meth addict. Glad she got a job. But hey, since you guys never invest in your properties and you see fit to serve hot food here, how about letting the help know the coupon policy while the good ole barfet is closed?

She had to make two phone calls. One radio call. A phone call back. About 5-7 minutes as a trio waited behind me in an uncomfortable situation. She said "he was checking" and would call back. then took their order. i waited about 3 minutes for that. no call back. she was on the final persons order.

I thought, why not just get the fuck out of here with my $820 net proft, I am not hungry anyway. And so I did.

So I drove 2 1/2 hours to play 10 hands of video poker. After playing an hour last night online and hitting zero quads, I had hit the beloved Quad Aces in less than 5 minutes. I didn't need to eat. See YAAAAAAAAAAAA:wave:

Of course we all know if Harrah's had their shit together and I had stopped to eat that spot at Mississippi Stud would have opened up and then the roulette table nearby and I would have dropped my winnings and another $500. Nice work guys. No wonder you are forecasting a bad 2011.:Þ

Nice hit bro, don't you love how all our boats in Illinois are in the ghetto. Anyway, make sure you and all your Entourage take lots of pictures especially of jackpots.

    straight from the website:

"Dining coupons will now be dining credits which you can use at any of our other outlets. Credits worth up to $20 can be used at Ace's, Mosaic, and The Reserve. All credits $25 and above can be used at Mosaic and The Reserve only."

    http://www.harrahsjoliet.com/casinos/harrahs-joliet/restaurants-dining/union-station-buffet-detail.html

I left my $20 coupon. I choose to donate to the WINDEX fund, a non-for-profit charity founded for the sole purpose of washing the windows at any Caesars Entertainment property, as it is apparantly part of their mission statement NEVER to wash a window.
