NYE here from 12/30/2020- 1/3/2021. Park MGM
I'm still undecided about my December flight because of the seat situation on SW. Also, if there is a surge in the virus and one might be stuck in Vegas or required to stay in the room.
I have similar concern about SWA. I called them to ask. Apparently... they have setup an alert system... they're going to notify customers in advance if their aircraft exceeds some target capacity percentage, so that schedule changes may be possible.
I wrote this reply separately because it may be considered speculative. When I flew home Tuesday 11/10, Alaska gate agent told me that they also plan to sell middle seats in December, but, due to current surge, the employees are also hearing different things about how the airline will respond. I won't be surprised if the airlines change their plans.
I'm waiting and watching for a few weeks before taking any action on my December flight and hotel.
A friend in VA told me parts of VA are in the red today.
Hopefully all holds out and conditions improve. Taking entire dawg pound out for the youngest pup’s 21st b-day. Getting in late night on the 26th leaving late night on the 30th. Booked Cosmo and Bellagio as of now. We were thinking of a night DT but very protective of my girls and latest reports of issues, low lives, robberies etc. has me questioning if it’s a good idea. Probably just take day trip. Looking forward to Chandelier and good fortune.
What was to be our second annual Christmas at Cosmo is a no go Feeling pretty damn sad about it but could see the writing was on the wall.
Will continue one disappointment at a time.
The problem with this is there is no way of knowing if the flights you change to will not also be full. Most flights are going out COVID full now, including all my SW flights so far to and from Vegas. With service reductions, I think that most SW flights will still be close to non-COVID full after 12/1.
American has been doing this for a while, and the notification encourages you to change your flight to a cheaper, less convenient one for the same price, and promising not to charge extra for the privilege. Has had a zero net effect so far in my personal experience because people dont want to change plans, and they are offering zero incentive and enforcing nothing. I've been on 2 100% full planes with them out of 4 so far, 2 more flights coming up day after tomorrow, neither of which appears to be sold out yet but we'll see.
That's not to say Southwest won't do better, but that sounds identical to AA'S policy which has done nothing but allow you to change your mind and take a flight credit with an expiration date if you dont feel safe. The real rub is, if anyone *does* reschedule, the seat for which they were ticketed becomes available to other passengers changing from other flights.
Landing in 27th....but I have to go straight to Arizona...
But back to Vegas for Dec 30-Jan 2.
Just booked xmas weekend at NoMad.
Leaving the hubby behind with his parents and the kid/granddaughter in AZ.
Should I feel ashamed? Guilt trip? (literally!)
So worried next weeks trip won't happen, booked Cosmo backing up right into X-mas, which is probably even less likely.
As I said to P, booking the 1BR fountain view possible upgrade, "better to have it and not need it, than need it, and not have it"...
Can always cancel (3 days for the "pre-upgrade-request" - new Cosmo feature?)
(terms are: If you get it at check in, you get it, don't: you don't pay and get original reservation)
(shows you the "discount value", was $42 vs $70 from studio terrace)
(dig the soaking tub, just learned the suite got the bubbler instead)
I’m booking 12/29-1/3 at Cosmo but worried about buying my airfare at this price and then stuck with a sitting credit at Christmas time if anything closes.
I was in the same boat but went ahead and bought my christmas ticket on American while the prices are down. If I do get stuck with the credit, I know I'll go somewhere next year at some point.
looks like we will be there together again, provided no shutdowns
I used that on my late October trip to go from Terrace Studio Fountain view to wraparound terrace fountain view. Was a great deal over normal booking price.
I literally have credit with four airlines right now and that doesn't include a credit charge back against Air Canada that I have filed with my bank. Small amounts with Allegiant and Alaska and a big credit with Westjet for a cancelled Puerto Rico flight and a nice sized one with American for a cancelled trip to New Orleans. I have had to make a chart with dates, codes, amounts etc.
I look at it as forced savings/credit for me and an interest free loan for the airline vultures.
Anybody have a party offer or any NYE stuff from CET yet? Or anyone else for that matter? I emailed a host earlier this week. I was told to call next week. So far all I have is $150 FP and $75 RC. Seems a bit light for a degenerate of my standards.
Still hoping to go in Dec for the first time in Tower Suites! 12-21-2020
