The husband and I are NOT Jimmy Buffet fans. In fact, we think he's kinda evil.

And we always stay at the Flamingo (well... so far...that may change next trip, we could also stay other places and the Flamingo is going downhill again).

We used to joke about what dire circumstances would get us to eat there. And then a few months ago, I found out they have a gluten-free menu. And are apparentlu great about it. I have a wheat allergy. Won't go in to shock if I have wheat, but I'll be damned uncomfortable for 2-3 days if I even get a single breadcrumb in my food.

Before the recent trip I told the hub if he wanted to get some Fatburger (horrible reaction the last time I ate there, never going back) I'd just bring my MP3 player to Margaritaville and get myself something to eat. Surprised when he suggested we both actually go eat there.

Right off... greeter was all "oh! Go to the host stand to find the GF menu" and when we sat down, even the waiter noticed I had the menu and was on top of things. And pretty decent selection... actual sandwiches on GF buns!! I think I asked, I think he said they were Udi's buns... but I still just got a salad. Next time, I may quix harder to ensure the nachos are totally GF (chips cannot be "house made" in a fryer that shares other things that are wheat/flour) 'cause they looked awesome.

My salad with shrimp was good, the hubs got the fish tacos and he liked them, and loved the black beans they came with. Overall... not our worst meal of the trip. Next time... and there will be one... I will likely give the waiter a quiz over the nachos and if we don't go with those, will get a sandwich. And I also half wonder if I can just go there and ask to buy a GF bun for like $5 to take it somewhere else if needed.

I think you should call before you go next time and ask about the Nacho's I'm sure they could make sure yours are kept away from the gluten products.

I don't know if buying the bun and taking it somewhere else would be cool but I'm sure you could find a gluten free bakery in Vegas.

I've been pleased with Margaritaville as well. It's reasonably priced (considering the location) and portions on the appetizers (including nachos) are large. Add to that a good vibe and Bikini Girl, who pops out of the volcano and slides into the blender, and it's a good group experience. The often long waits during peak hours says something about Margaritaville's popularity.

LOL, were you expecting it to suck? :)

It's really a fun place, both the casino and the bar/restaurant. Also a great place to people-watch outside by the Strip.

This brings back a great memory of hanging out on Margaritaville's narrow porch with a beer and people watching.

Regarding Gluten Free, I was surprised that Aldi has several GF products.

I used to make this a must stop every time I stayed at Flamingo, I love it.

I also dig that the Margaritaville casino smells of sun tan lotion.

I'll say it. I hate the place. Waited forever, paid way too much for a burger that was the consistency of a hockey puck, and the stupid music is so annoying. Seriously, they have about 4 songs on repeat. It's ridiculous. Nachos were OK, but there's better to be had. Not hating, just my two cents!
