Here's a neat article from this week about the current state of weekday Downtown table games. seems like most things are becoming more playable (lower mins) and the bad games are being ignored, which is good. https://vegasadvantage.com/downtown-las-vegas-trip-report-march-2023/
Thanks for posting this. I like John's reports, Good news about the lower mins. Wish John had mentioned what the table limits at the D were when he walked by......that place seems to have jacked them up the most. Also, it sucks that the remaining live craps table at DTG was closed in the late afternoon.
Unless $5 craps becomes a possibility again, it's tough for me to justify a trip. At these limits, I can go 45 minutes to Atlantic City.
In Atlantic City you can get some of the carnival games that low, but craps and blackjack are generally $15 and up. The primary reason I would travel to Las Vegas was to be able to gamble at lower limits than I could get at home, but I'm getting priced out!
$5 DTG is still a thing. Glad to see GG came down to $10. I miss playing there as a $5 game. I 100% agree that $15 tables shouldn't exist downtown, glad to see people not playing them.
I've only been to DTG once, when trying to redeem some coupons back in 2017. Got a run-around and dealt with dealers who just were not friendly. I really wasn't encouraged to return based on my experience. I'd rather head to Jerry's Nugget.
Mehaffey's comment about GN from his downtown tour earlier this week. My observations from my stay in November were the same. The Nugget was by far the busiest casino downtown. https://twitter.com/John_Mehaffey/status/1633685661323776000?cxt=HHwWgMDS3YGdgqwtAAAA
Is $5 craps available anywhere in Vegas? Going for a long weekend in April. Will have a car. Would love a DT option.
I hear Jerry's Nugget definitely has it, and if the table is open, Downtown Grand does too. Jerry's is more reliable, in my opinion.
Plaza's craps was $5 a couple of weekday mornings when I was there in November. It'll be interesting to see what happens at DTG now that they only have one live table. Mehaffey reporting that it was closed late on a Tuesday afternoon isn't good.
Downtown Grand maybe but I can't say I saw it anywhere else last time I was in town. I did not check off strip resorts though. I think $5 craps is going to be mostly a thing of the past except for a few places at a few select times in the same way that $3 was rare but did still happen occasionally 10 years ago. We are about there now inflation wise where $3 a decade ago is almost equivalent to $5 today (roughly, not trying to start a sidebar on it). $10 has some legs though once things settle down.
Ellis Island still has $5 craps according to some reports I’ve seen. Off-strip I saw people report that Suncoast had it either late last year or earlier this year, but when I tried to go in January on a weekday afternoon it was $10 (and empty). The only place I actually played $5 craps was at Downtown Grand, but they frequently only had half the table open so it was very difficult to get a spot.
Last summer I played $5 craps at Jerry’s Nugget and the Downtown Grand. I also played $5 craps at the Railroad Pass but don’t think I’d count that as Vegas. Apparently the Cannery in NLV also has $5 craps I think all the time. The Pass in Downtown Henderson supposedly has it but I never saw it open the. Our man John apparently has a list. Note Club Fortune removed table games. https://vegasadvantage.com/where-to-play-5-craps-and-roulette-in-las-vegas/
DTG was supposed to have nickel craps during the day, but a couple of weeks ago there were never any crews. The floor supervisor said there were sick calls... A nickel game can still be had at Ellis Island and Jerry's Nugget.
If anyone can confirm if DTG has $5 live craps any longer during the day (when there is a crew), I'm curious to know. Will be there in 8 weeks!
Some people on Reddit said that DTG no longer has $5 craps. I believe they have Stadium craps now as well.
- The obv. answer: $15 doesn't sound THAT high, but as every craps player knows, you will have $200 on the table in an instant with that minimum - The math for place bets is way to difficult for me when I'm drunk, give me a $10 table, there i might remember what to bet
