According to a couple comments I've read, Cromwell instituted a casino-wide dress code last weekend, banning shorts from the property, with security escorting people off site.

Apparently, it didn't work out like they had hoped and have reversed the policy according to their Twitter profile.
I know I would be pretty upset if i got removed from a casino because I was wearing shorts on a hot day. What do people think about this?

nice try I guess. I am not a fan of cover charges or dress codes. yes, sometimes they may be appropriate, but for a casino -- no way. if you don't want my money, (that I carry in my shorts) there are plenty of casinos that do. I would leave and go to a non CET property. case closed.

All shorts??? Wow. Not surprised at the reversal since it's Vegas and triple digits every day right now.

Sometimes you just wonder what these casino mgt. people are thinking.....or if they can think at all.

I heard about this on a podcast last week. Sounds like it was just a special event that was poorly communicated and executed.

If that news is accurate and I doubt that it is, then it is all pure nonsense.

I’d laugh, probably say WTF? to my wife’s displeasure of my language and then go somewhere else.
I’m Fremont Street trash anyway and you could probably wear a diaper there and not be bothered except for other tourists wanting to take pictures with you.

That says "special events" dress code. I'd think that would be club related. You're not gonna get booted for wearing shorts to a strip casino, in the desert, in summer. Sounds more like a miscommunication than anything else. Can't find anything on the interwebs about a dress code outside the pool and the club.

It would seem like the "dress code" issue was aimed at the non gaming areas of the casino...restaurants or club events...

I'm not worried about it. I can go inside just as easily as passing by and not.

I was listening to a well known Vegas podcast (not sure if name dropping is allowed here), and there was a call from some folks who were turned away at the casino entrance by guards who confirmed that it wasn't just a club thing, but the entire casino, for that particular event.

That's reasonable...the entire casino being used for a special event. Which is much different than the idea that Cromwell instituted a dress code for the casino not related to an event (e.g. we're gonna pretend we're a tad farther up the social ladder than we really are).

"... but we have since decided to instead leave dress code enforcement to the particular venues. " sounds more like yeah, there's a dress code for the clubs, but you can still dress like a normal human being and drop coinage in our casino.

What if someone showed up in the short shorts Lebron suit with a tie and large bankroll? Poor security guy.

Seems like a big conflict with what they are trying to do by offering some quarter full pay machines, and some full pay low limit table games.

I'm assuming that their club and maybe restaurants wanted a dress code and argued it would be easier to enforce at the property entrance. But still, very bad idea.

Another dumb ass move. I can see clubs or restaurants with a dress code. However to have an entire casino be part of a special event that would institute a dress code for the entire facility for even a few hours is dumb as fuck. Glad that passed faster than a White Castle after a night of drinking.

I think someone is playing an April fools joke in mid July. Shorts not allowed in a casino?? I still think it's still a joke. My wife's experience at Cromwell is different but similar. Two years ago, she went to Cromwell's pool to meet friends so they could go lunch and was not let in because she wasn't wearing proper swim wear. She went to find a friend, not hang out and swim. She said what a D-Bag and it's hard to believe it's the old Barbary and Bill's. Every year that goes by, I wonder why I go back every year. I'm from about 5 times a year to once and that has me questioning my sanity.
