Am I making the right bet if I just put down $10 for odds on whatever number’s the point at a $5 table? I swear remembering the $5 or $6 for which gets me confused. ( yes, I know it’s easy. Still!)

Well, you can't make an odds bet if you haven't made a pass line or don't pass wager. You can place any number, including the point. For a place bet, you want to wager increments of $6 on the 6 and 8, and increments of $5 on the other numbers.

Ya, I meant playing $5 on the pass line, can I just do $10 odds instead of the $5/$6?

Easy way to remember as long as your odds are multiples of 10 you are good regardless of table minimum or point

Yep, the wagers for the odds bet are different than place bets.

Just remember that for Odds, odds are even Meaning for odds, the odd numbers (5 and 9) need to be an even number bet because they pay 3 to 2. All the other numbers can be a multiple of 5.

Place bet 6 and 8 are multiples of 6 and all the others can be multiples of 5.

Thanks! I only play craps in Vegas so I don’t get the reinforcement. Last time I played the person next to me was betting the same style/level as me, so I just copied him!

This is what I was taught by a dealer when I first started playing craps regarding the odds bet.

    If the point is:

    6 & 8 - bet in multiples of $5
    5 & 9 - bet anything even
4 &10 - bet any amount you want

I teach people this by pointing to the 6 with my left hand, and the 8 with my right hand, and as I move my hands away from each other, while pointing twice more, I say,
    "Fives, Even, Any."

This is how I still remember, almost 20 years after first learning how to play.
