I'm toying with the idea of trying a craps session betting the don't pass.

I usually have a pass line bet, single odds, and then place the 6 & 8.

What would be the "dark side" equivalent of this betting pattern?

Can I ask why you would want to play the dont pass? Part of the fun of craps is socially playing with the table.

It just seems like unnecessary bad energy added to the table.

I mean if the table is cold, just find another table or a different thing to bet on.

It is totally reasonable to bet don’t pass and still place the 6 and 8, with single odds on the don’t.

Just decide what you want to do when the point is 6 or 8.

You can bet the dont and lay the 6 and 8. For the 6 and 8 you would bet 6 bucks like you would do when you place however you only get paid 5.

I’m not really sure there is equivalent. If you are wanting to play the dark side then you need to either just bet the don’t pass and maybe make 1 or 2 don’t come bets. It’s not that you can’t place the 6 or 8 along with it but if you win your don’t pass bet then you are going to lose the 6/8. Either play one way or the other.

I was just curious. I don't want to start anything.
Again, to me part of the fun of craps is cheering along with people to get the points.

how do you remember how much the odds bets are for DP bets?

Easy to remember the pass/come odds bets but I have a hard time making odds bets for DP and DC.

If you have been on this forum long enough then you will realize that you are going to start something. Almost as bad as posting you like the Golden Nugget.:stir:
I don’t like to be on a table with don’t players because I like everyone to be on the same team, but they are “probably “ not causing the bad # to come up more often.

The whole reason I love craps is the social aspect. If everyone on the table was playing the dont I would join, but I'd still feel very guilty about it.
However it would be my one opportunity to scream "7 OUT" as soon as the dice are in the air every roll.

There’s not a real equivalent to this betting on the dark side. But if you play the Don’t and want the next two “best/lowest” risk options, it would be to Lay the 4 and 10. You would have to Lay 20 to win 10, but as a Don’t player these are similar to a 6/8 for a right side player.

Based on the OP's Do betting scenario, the "equivalent" bet on the Don't Pass (assuming it's a min. $5 table) from a $$ standpoint would be:

$5 flat bet and laying $15 or $18 odds bet, depending on the point...

I could be mistaken, but if you wanted to "Lay" bet any number, the minimum bet would have to be $30 plus $1 vig.....so laying the 8 would be called : "$31 No 8", which would pay $25 (you are betting $6 to win $5) if the shooter crap out...laying 9 would be : "$31 No 9", which would pay $20 (betting $6 to win $4) if the shooter craps out...

It's a legit bet. Although it feels like you're rooting against the table, in truth all bets are made against the house. The majority of people won't be mature enough to see it that way. Craps can very fun and social especially when the table is winning together. So you're kind of betting for the cops to break up the party.

Do it in video bubble craps all you want. That's my advice. There is so much betting etiquette and betting superstitions that i call BS on, and I have so many weird ways that i wanna bet because i bet on a feel. Having the privacy on a video table game is a great to do it without being judged. A great safe environment to learn in as well. The stakes are lower

EDIT: I remember i was on a table so cold that everyone slowly started playing the don't pass bar 12 and were cool with it.... We all did it silently one by one without any cohoots... dead quiet and miserable from losing a long string of games... New excited players would come in see what was going on, saw it as a bad sign and left the table because the vibe was so gloomy. Funny looking back at it

Hey thanks everyone! These are the answers I was hoping for.

As to why, honestly just to try it. I’m still fairly new at craps. TBH, I’d play the don’t at shoot to win craps first before trying it at a table.

100% agreed that it's your money, and your wager. Everyone should feel free to bet as they please. Hell, if you want to split 10s, have at it (though I might do an eyeroll).

But, as mentioned, craps is more of a social game than a lot of others on the floor, and if you're betting the don't, it means you win while everyone else loses, and vice-versa. The difference without odds is only 5bp (1.41% on pass, versus 1.36% on don't pass). So I'd just bear that in mind, because it can impact your overall enjoyment of the game, which is the most important part!

If I am playing darkside, I play don’t pass , max odds, and two don’t come max odds. And then the shooter hits every goddamn number, makes the point so I believe in him, start betting the pass and then he PSO’s me.

On a 3x-4x-5x table, the max odds bet on the Don'ts is always 6x the base bet, no matter the point. I sorted this two ways, one by the odds multiplier and one by the point.
