Many of us don't have the patience to just play one pass line bet with odds. that's why you see many people play pass, come and also place a few bets. they have a better chance of winning (and losing more). But they also accrue play to qualify for comps. whether it is a comped meal or a free night.

I once rolled for 35 minutes and I never hit my point. I hit all the other numbers and made out fairly well.

Boring is relative for everyone. You may not find it boring to just play pass and odds but many of us would be bored. Craps is such a fast action game, that's why there are so many other bets available to keep the player busy. Yes there is a higher house advantage to play these other bets and some people consider them to be "sucker" bets but it keeps many players busy while waiting for the point to hit or if someone throws a lot of those numbers.

As I mentioned, play within your means and don't worry about what other people are playing. If you think a bet is a sucker bet then don't play it.

I have to tell my one awesome craps story, regarding sucker bets. I was at the table with a stranger, nice guy, and he has a decent amount of money, maybe 1200 bucks in his dish. I start rolling, and go on a tear, and then the whole table caught fire. Anyways. My turn to roll again, and buddy with 1200 is up about 12 thousand dollars, i started with 100 and was at about 1000, pretty awesome. Buddy tells me " roll the hard 8 and ill give you one thousand dollars " . It took me about 6 rolls, but i ended up rolling the hard 8 , and he gave me 500 because "i took too long" and we both laughed. He had 1000 dollars on that sucker bet, and it paid 10000. I rolled it 2 more times. This is at Harrahs by the way, at the cheapo table by the door. This guy had won so much money, that they had to pause the table, and bring in more thousand dollar chips. I ended up turning my 100 into four thousand, and he walked away with over eighty thousand dollars. Most of it made off of hard ways. Now, im sure he has lost the same amount as well. But I don't have any stories about how i saw some start with 100 bucks, and grind for 4 hours and turn it into 120! I know all of the odds, and i know the hard ways, box cars , snake eyes are sucker bets. But every once in a while the sucker wins big! 5 dollar table! Also, sucker bets are for when your up big, not starting out!

Yesterday at a local "native American" casino, where "hitting points" was rare, this one guy cleaned up even only putting $3.00 on "any craps" for the come-out roll.............I admit I kicked myself for not copying his play with that............

Always send my bud with 20$ he does the same. Be the yo for a $. We match. So 40! rolls straight yo and it usually takes 3-4 trips to exhaust the roll. Sometimes we profit (if we double we stop). Mostly just a diversion.

sucker bets are fun. I only ever play the middle of the table when I am up and rolling. Trying to grind out on them never works out for me.

It's the same with BJ - at El Cortez they have the 30-1 suited side bet. I always put a $1 chip on the bet as it's exciting and fun when it comes off. I only played the side bet when I was up but I saw people sit at those tables and play their $5 min on the hand but put $50 on the side bet.

Is it a sucker bet? Yes... do I still play it... yes.
If I'm playing $5 pass, I'll toss down a $5 C/E. I look at it as an "insurance". Hey, leave me alone in my delusion. lol
And, I play a lot of come bets. So, I'll toss out a $15 3-way 7 to cover my bets. I'm up on that bet. It's saved my come bets several times.

And, if the point is a hardway number I'll sometimes do a $2 2-ways. I figure if it hits, that's good.. if not.. it's only $1 and I'm here for fun, not to win huge. But, if both happen, I won't turn it down. ;)

For the most part I play the "good bets." PL with odds, come bets, 6&8. But I do occasionally play some "sucker bets." Specifically I will do a two-way hard eight for me and the dealers when it is the point. (That's also where I got my twitter handle from). And I also do a $2 Ace-Deuce Yo on the come-out when I am rolling. I set the dice with the 5-6, 1-2. Last session I threw two Yo's and an Ace-Deuce all in a row!

Yes it's a sucker bet, but it's fun to play once in a while. And if you're not risking a significant part of your bankroll on it, then I don't see what the big deal is.

I play a $5 horn on the come out just for fun. It makes things interesting & as Fullboat said above, I look at it as a kind of insurance. I love it when it hits!

Lately, I have been doing $1 any craps on the come-out roll myself as kind of a protection for my pass line bet. Again just gives me some peace of mind.

I don't really care what anyone is betting as long as they get their bets in timely. Late bettors are just annoying, I know that they have nothing to do with the outcome of the dice, I just don't like the disruption of the game.

Agree. And unfortunately, a table with a lot players making center and especially the one roll bets really slows down the game.

Had a guy last weekend at my local who made it worse by making each of his center bets individually. That is, he'd toss a chip to the stickman and call a bet, wait for the stick to place it, then reach for his next chip and repeat the process. Box at one point threatened to call no bets for people slow betting, but this guy was oblivious that the box was referring to him. The table was probably averaging a ridiculous 2-3 minutes between rolls.

When I'm up, I like to do a High Horn and a Field bet on the come out roll.

Sticking with good bets will buy you more time to get lucky.

You can turn a boring bet into an exciting bet by having a plan to press or parlay in advance. Much better than spotting the house an easy 11.11% on a single roll IMHO.

But you gotta play the way you want at the end of the day.

Sharp post. Lots of thrills to be had with the lower HA bets if you're not shy about pressing.

What's the difference between $1 yo and a $15 passline bet?
Answer: not much...except one you're out only $1 if you lose it, the the other you're out $15 (multiply up as the case may be)
You can expect to lose 11c on the Yo bet, you can expect to lose ~11c on that pass line bet
