This happened a few years ago so I'm going off memory.

At about stupid-o'clock in the morning (3 AM or 4 AM, I think) I found an open craps tables with a $10 minimum at the MGM or Bellagio (probably MGM). I was the only one playing.

I was playing my normal $10 Pass line + odds + all tall/small/all + various numbers and occasional field bets. Then another player came up and watched a minute or two and then started playing the Don't Pass at about $500 or $1,000 a turn, along with Don't Come bets at about the same amount.

Now I didn't realize how bad this got for him until I started hitting points, one after the other, about 4 or 5 in a row. He rolled up with quite a few yellow/pink/black chips which were depleted. Then got some kind of casino credit or line, placed the same Don't bets and that stack was depleted too.

I truly didn't realize it at the time, but that must have been extremely tilting for him. He was only there for less than a half hour. Am I a sociopath for getting a little tingle out of this? And how can I remember this s*** from 4 or 5 years ago, but I can't remember what I had for lunch 5 days ago?

Later on I kind of feel his pain, the pain all of us gamblers face after losing.

I'm not a winning craps player lifetime, not even close. Probably down 2 grand lifetime at this game. But it is the most fun game at the casino, especially with a full table, which is why I play.

No. Dice are dice. I've been on both sides, as have many. I often often play on the don'ts and congratulate those who hit. It's a completely different psychology.

Ah, I actually don't recall seeing anyone congratulating those who hit the pass while playing the don't. That's actually quite nice, perhaps I don't understand the ins and outs (edit: the ins and outs of the psychology, not the game strategy)

Since both the "Do" and "Don't" are playing against a similar house edge, I don't get too concerned about most don't players. The game is set up for the house to win in the end, not either side.

The people I find aggravating are the self-entitled asshats who come in hollering at everyone for their run of bad luck. They will drive me away from the table because they take away the fun.

The way I look at it: the dice will fall as they fall. I play bacc the same way. If I notice a serious player lose significant money, I'll say nothing until that player opens up in some way (if they ever do). I was at the Beau a few months ago, and a Banker player hit for about $5k on a hand. I lost for less than than that. I knocked the glass divide and said said, Nice hit. They smiled and said Thanks.

To me, that's what it's all about. After all, we're playing against the same house.

It happens quite a bit....both ways.

Had 4 guys lose close to 30k collectively playing the don’ts. They were good sports about it. Casino was the big winner...

That's good to see, honestly. (the don'ts being good sports)

In this particular case, I was relatively quiet I think (quiet person by nature) and the don't player who lost a bunch was absolutely silent throughout.

I find the miserable ones are trying to ‘catch the falling knife’ guys.

Playing both sides like their lives depends on your next throw...avoid those.

Most people are there to have a good time!!!

I'm with hard6 on that one. We are all against the house and the odds are stacked against us in the long run, no matter what side anyone plays on. I find it a challenge when a don't better walks up to the table with 10 times what I have and doubles his bets after every point I hit to try and chase his losses. I personally have never played the don't pass, mainly because I love a good crowd at a hot table and having that one High Roller going against everyone else feels like it sucks the fun out if the table goes cold even more than it already does. Especially if he's obnoxious and wants a "big red".

lol I actually had to google big red (sigh) I don't play the middle except hard ways.

I don't even recall a jackwagon cheering or rooting after the table gets demoralized after a 7 is rolled. Most don'ts I've known at a full table are dead silent and collect their chips without saying a word.

I'll chalk it up to you guys playing more craps than me, or at least being more observant than me. ;)

I can only recall one time where a don't player was really vocal so usually they do just pick up their chips and do it quietly. But I've played right next to some when I'm thowing straight across and they are next to the dealer. After the 3rd point was hit and they are going on tilt I swear I can hear then under their breath for sure.

I enjoy watching don’t pass players lose money, especially when they are the only one at the table.

Hard to say, some players are only don't players so it could be that it wasn't because he sized up a person as a loser.

But I have had some players size people up before they played the pass or don't. Those people are the ones I am glad to see lose.

Funny story from a few years ago. I was at the Fremont one morning. Two guys were playing on the table, both playing the don't. One of them was shooting but still playing the don't. Fremont has a counter and the counter already read 20 something. I watched them play for a few more rolls and I decided to buy in because the shooter was throwing nice numbers and was hitting his point. Long story shortened, the shooter got up to roll 45. His partner finally lost his bankroll (I was rolling in the dough, lol). I finally felt sorry for them and I told the shooter that he should switch to the pass because he was doing so well. He finally switched to the positive side and threw another 13 more times before crapping out, winning some of his money back. I did fairly well considering I was only making $5 initial bets and increasing them when he hit a particular number.

After they finished rolling I went to speak with them. They said that they learned that the don't was the better way to play. I told them that they need to play the table, if the dice was hot they should play the pass, when the table is cold then play the don't.

At least the shooter won a free t shirt for throwing so many times.

My disgust for the don't player has softened over the years. I used to think that they were socially deviants but I still take satisfaction in costing them when I am tossing the dice. Anyone that has played more than a little has seen the sizing up followed by the don't pass bet - loser identified.

Is betting the don't really worth the .000000000000000001% increase in house advantage? For this huge potential gain in profit you are not allowed to enjoy winning? . . . . . . . wow! Sign me up.

I just play and let variance do it's thing. It will do it's thing whether we win or lose.

The don't player that judges the shooter as a loser or the shooter who takes satisfaction in shutting out the don't player doesn't matter to the dice.

It will do it's thing no matter what the players think.

I just hope that when I walk up to the table I will have a fun and entertaining experience, and that the other players are there for the same.
