I think that Vegas is very far away from ever being completely cashless and my opinion of it is that it's a bad idea. They would be limiting their money making potential instantly where there will be a a percentage of people who won't gamble anymore for various reasons. Going cashless will have all sorts of restrictions on the players where having cash doesn't. Having cash means I can play at any casino at any time without having to prior setups of accounts with hotels, banks, etc. Also note that international players would have all sorts of problems with cashless if their banks accounts are not in the USA (Europe or Asia). I'm from Canada and to this day, there are ATM machines that still won't allow me to withdraw cash from a Vegas Casino since it doesn't recognize my debit card. Heck, I don't even have a line of credit anywhere in Vegas because my Canadian bank to this day refuses to share information with US banks (Vegas). I think problems like this would be worse with cashless and would end up being a nightmare for gamblers in Vegas who can't play because of the "glitch" in their system, lol.
