For information about the Cosmopolitan hotel.

Arrived week 2 of reopening on a Thursday evening.

Plenty of social distancing at cab drop off:

No special goodies with checkin to the hotel, there is a kit in the room:

Unlike the video that was well played over the internet last week, the floor at 9pm had enough room to walk comfortably.

Table games have 3 chairs to the table. No barriers.
Craps tables have 3 on each side, but groups of people would congregate behind.
All slot machines appear to be on, but every other chair is removed.

At the chandelier bar, there is only one entrance where you are to line up to be seated at a table. I judged walked right by to go to the bar, where every third VP machine was closed, so that two people could play next to each other.

The front desk guy mentioned I could order from any restaurant in the property as “room service” but I’m not sure if that is accurate, haven’t tried it out yet.

Hand sanitizing machines are around but not in prominent locations, and you would have to go out of your way to find one.

Mask usage is 100 percent from employees, and probably 10 percent customers. I saw no one actively cleaning slot machines or chairs last night.

Thanks for the report! its amazing how such a few percentage of people (non-workers) are wearing masks. I guess since i live in a horrible covid outbreak area im just used to seeing 95% of all people wearing them

Right there with you, it's almost night and day over there compared to over in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast.

@neuroboy - thanks for posting this, it's definitely helpful for many of us to assess our plans going forward!

Do they require mask wearing at the gaming tables for players?

No masks required. Last night I only saw an older couple wearing masks at the craps table. Everyone else was maskless.

I see that they still have in person check in. Good!

Thanks for the pics. Even the cab drop off area makes me wistful.

we saw about the same as neuroboy last weekend....Most all slot machines were on..few chairs missing...chairs missing at table games..employees all wearing masks..but not much when it comes to the patrons. I think Cosmo was the most leanient of the casinos we were at. Saw most on the strip but didn't go downtown or outlying casinos..We had a great time overall.

Thanks so much for the great info!

Glad to see the casino floor not resembling the scenes we saw last week. But disappointing to see that Cosmo still seems to be lagging its cohorts in terms of safety measures.

I’d be interested in any differences you see between the weeknight crowds and weekend ones.

Same here from Los Angeles. Absurd.

Can't wait to get back to Cosmo (I know where all the socially distanced machines are, like Wonka and Brit to name a few )!

Thank you for this update. It's interesting to see how casinos - Vegas and beyond! - are coping with these new changes.

Thanks for the boots on the ground update. I’m conflicted about an early July trip. Looking forward to updates on the weekend crowds.

It was definitely more crowded Friday night, but still not to the degree that the video made it look.

Cosmo, of all the strip properties I walked through, had the smallest guest mask wearing crowds. I suppose that is because the crowd skews younger here.

(Bellagio seemed to have the highest mask percentage, still less than 50 percent, but changes are highly visible there, hand washing stations, sanitizer, free masks for everyone, plexiglass everywhere - table games, vp bar.)

Crowds walking around outside are much, much less than usual.

I asked dealers about the higher minimums. They told me less spaces for players, and the lack of current competition allows them to do so Eg, while I was playing craps, the table minimum went from $25 to $50 to $100 as players joined.

I am at Cosmopolitan as I write this and I can confirm that the patron mask usage here is very low with no plexiglass barriers at any of the gaming tables. All CET properties require you to wear a mask if you are playing at a table and a majority of the people walking around had masks. Wynn was 50/50... more lax than CET and more stringent than Cosmo. One thing to note for Cosmo, the dealers do a wipe down of the table between switching dealers going on break. Monday afternoon had the sidewalk in front of the Bellagio fountains almost barren. Quite a site to behold when this is the high season for tourism.

What's the situation with the elevators? Are they crowded?

Elevators weren’t that crowded (compared to the amount of people on the casino floor). The signs suggest 4 or less per elevator. I waited once - the whole weekend - because the elevator was too full.

The boulevard pool was open for guests and plenty of room (in the morning).

It was easy to get take out from the restaurants, getting seated for dinner was tougher (less seats, calling a day before you get there for Friday and Saturday for reservations is recommended).

Seating at the Block 16 Urban was extremely limited, and there were long waits for the tekka bar sushi.

The line for eggslut in the morning was a normal line (30 people), enough that I wouldn’t wait in it.

There were always a couple of taxis waiting here (unlike other smaller hotels) but only about 10 percent of all taxis are on the road right now, because of the lack of convention visitors. They make more money on unemployment a driver told me- and it was hard for the companies to try and get drivers back right now.

Overall the cosmo still felt like a real Vegas experience (good and bad).
