So recently I received an offer for an Encore Resort King Suite for $118 per night. Then yesterday my wife received an offer from Mirage. That offer was for a resort king (varying rates per night but totalled out to be $317 for three nights for a Resort King. We are waiting to hear from Cosmo as far as room rates. We have never stayed at any of these properties so we're not sure what to expect or look for. We aren't high rollers but want to get the most bang for our buck. We were all looking at CET properties but Wynn and Mirage seem like really good deals. Cosmo would be our ideal location to gamble and stay, without knowing what room rates we can get from previous gambling it is making it hard. With a June trip, we would like to have things booked fairly soon so we can let the group know should they decide to stay at the same property. During the day the pool will be a big deal, gambling will be all over as will food choices. The only knock I have on Wynn is that it is at the North end of the strip and the casino doesn't really appeal to us. But if I can stay there for fairly reasonable I have no issues with that.
With money not an object, Cosmo, Encore, Mirage in that order. Btw, how'd you get these offers if you've never stayed there?
I'd definitely go with Encore over Mirage at those prices. Unless Cosmo beats Encore price, I'd go with Encore.
Cosmo, Mirage, Wynn/Encore for me, depending on price. In all fairness, I have NOT stayed at Wynn, it's just a little further away and to me, seems slightly more subdued. I'm NOT a clubber, but I like a blend of refined/elegant/luxurious, yet still a bit edgy/hopping, and Cosmo nails that. FYI you might check Aria too via Mlife. They've been running some solid deals too. Those are all great options!
The Mirage pool is pretty cool, and it's a fun social scene. If the pool is a big factor for you, that may warrant a second look at the Mirage. That being said, Mirage is a big step down from the Cosmo and the Wynn in almost every other department, most notably the size and quality of the rooms. As a frame of reference, my wife and I are mid 30's. When we go to Vegas in the summer we frequently stay at the Mirage b/c of the pool. Every trip that isn't centered around the pool we stay at Aria because the rooms/casino/restaurants are much better.
We have gambled at all the properties, just never stayed there. We played in my wife's card at Mirage, my card at Wynn and mine at Cosmo.
That is my hangup with Wynn. Because it's a little further. We aren't club people either. Agree with Cosmo. I did check Aria too no good deals for us. We have never played there so no real comps there.
Wynn at first seemed far away from me but now that Encore (even farther north) is my base I don't really notice it. DBueler and I often meet up and she stays mid strip. I take a lyft if say I am going all the way to Paris to MAG for breakfast but I often walk if I'm going to say Harrah's. On a nice day it is a wonderful way to see the sights and absorb Vegas, as long as it is not too hot. I love the Cosmo rooms with a balcony but even with that, Encore, for the spectacular hotel AND service, would be my choice. Cosmo would be second. Mirage would be third.
Im going to Encore in september, had alot of positive feedback , never slept there before but gambled alot there , the Wynncore vibe is nowhere to be found in my opinion
Since you do mention comps, some of this depends on what you mean by "most bang for your buck." Are you more concerned with getting a good discount on room value, or where your play will get you the best offers? Just on the prices you quoted for Encore vs Mirage, the Encore deal is better. But your play is likely to go further at Mirage as far as future offers, and obviously MGM has more properties to choose from.
We ended up booking at Delano. One of the members of the group (well the one who's retirement party it is) wanted to give the south strip a try. With the Crown and Anchor membership, rates were VERY good and we got the $150 resort credit. Thanks for all the suggestions!
Cosmo is my favorite. I used to be a loyal Mirage guest, then I stayed at Aria once, and Cosmo the next trip. I haven't stayed anywhere but Cosmo since in our last 6 or so trips. I love the location, the atmosphere, everything.
