If I had a group of 16 friends that I wanted to invite up to my room for drinks which room would be better. Assuming wrap is fountain view as the whole point is to wow them with the view but also want everyone to fit comfortably.

Wraparound. Not just for room space (1200 vs. 910 sq ft) but the balcony on the wraparound is LOOOOOOONG - extending along two entire walls of that suite. If you want to "WOW" a group with a view, and actually have some room to do it, I can't think of much better.

There are wraparounds without fountain views. There are two wraparounds on each floor of the Chelsea tower and four on each floor of the Boulevard tower. Half are fountain views, half aren't. There should be an obstructed view of the fountains from the southern Chelsea tower suite, but the south Boulevard tower suites are pretty much SOL.

Definitely the wraparound and make sure you get a fountain view, even if you have to pay a little extra to guarantee it. The view is stunning- I just had a group of 20 or so in one last weekend and there was plenty of room on the balcony for everyone to hang out. We actually had everyone leaning along only the north-facing railing catching a fountain show at one point and there was still a bunch of elbow room. I will say that the balcony is narrow enough that it isn’t really conducive to conversing in a circle with multiple people, but there’s room inside for that.

I would guess that a wraparound terrace like the one in the video above that faces north and east (the other side of the strip) would be preferable to one on the northwest corner of the tower (good views of the fountains, but not so much of the strip) for most people. Is there any way to guarantee you get one, or is it just luck of the draw?

Best you can do is to make sure you book the wraparound as "fountain view" (you likely won't get that if you don't book it as such), but you could end up in one of three orientations:

    1) NE corner of the Boulevard Tower (shown in video above)
    2) NW corner of Boulevard tower (faces fountains and west towards the interstate
    3) NE corner of Chelsea Tower (faces fountains and east towards strip, but back behind Boulevard tower)

    All have great fountain views.

However, beyond simply the "wraparound fountain view" there's no way to guarantee which of the three orientations you get, short of simply requesting it. If available, you'll get it - but know that these requests are common - you aren't the only one shooting for those prime terraces.

So, a request like "NE corner of the Boulevard tower floors 35 and higher if possible" is a good way to try it, then maybe list a second choice option. ANY of the fountain view wraparounds above floor 35 WILL impress though - I think the fountains are more important than the Strip in terms of view, so if you don't get NE Boulevard tower but still get an elevated fountain view it's not "end of the world" stuff (at least IMO).

Thanks for the detailed info on locations. I didn't realize there were any of these in the Chelsea tower. Now I know what to request.

No problem. Got much of that from here. If I see a floorplan (and I have) I tend to store that stuff like an elephant.

If only that Room 77 site still had those floorplans....sad to see those disappear.
