Funny. I'm a woman and not much of a shoe person (luggage is my obsession) but both your wife's shoes and your shoes are sexy! Lovin' them both and I am actually more likely to wear something like what you are wearing! I wish I could still wear really high heels but those days are basically over. :(

Keep up the shoe porn please!

Edited to add: Like your sneaks too!

Well I wish I had better news but the gaming score from tonight is:

    Cosmopolitan - 1
    CLE_Greg - 0

After dinner I got on tilt a bit playing $1 and $2 VP and then some random slots but shut it down before things got too out of hand.

Dinner at Beauty and Essex was very good. No pictures because I refuse to be that guy taking pictures of my food. I appreciate you all doing it for these reports but Vegas restaurants have become a epilepsy hazard with all of the flashing going on. We ordered 5 “dishes” and found that to be the perfect amount for 2 people. 4 of the 5 were fantastic, the Mac and cheese with ham was not good at all. We really enjoyed the spring rolls, the poke tacos, the grilled cheese dumplings and the avocado toast was absolutely out of this world. My wife liked the house Pinot noir and I ordered some orange something or another with Tito’s and juice and red bull and it was so sweet and thick I couldn’t drink it.

Overall Beauty and Essex gets an 8/10 from me. Will eat there again.

Hope to have some more pictures tomorrow. Now it’s time for a few gallons of water, a handful of headache meds and hopes of a painless morning.

Also, at MGM Kettle is comped but Tito’s (which is cheaper) isn’t...with genius management decisions like this i can’t understand why they are struggling...whatever, keep paying me I’ll drink whatever you pour.

Probably have a deal with Ketel. But yeah things like that are stupid.

    Keep the turnaround going!

Well...the gambling gods givith and taketh and it my case they did the latter with swift efficiency and brutal violence. After an early run of good, the tables turned quickly.

Other than that, great morning. Put in an early workout and got dressed to enjoy full day #1.

Empty. Look at me being all responsible and dedicated and whatnot

Sweating to the oldies minus the fro and bright colored unitard

We put about 5-6 miles in walking the strip just bouncing from VP bar to VP bar collecting, in our case, a strong buzz and healthy losses.

Stopped into this place. Really neat and the fresh bread baking smelled so good.

We needed some quick lunch and happed to pass this after donating a few hundred at the link VP bar. Lunch was good. Nothing special but great service and solid food.

Finished the pre nap part of the day by getting absolutely destroyed in VP at the Cosmo chandelier bar. Jeff the bartender is a great dude and we chat with him every time we are here so that helped ease the pain of donating to the black rock general fund.

Just woke from a nap and we’ve called an audible for the night. Doing housewives bar place for drinks followed by Nobu. Then back to Cosmo for an attempt at retribution from last night and this morning.

Sucks re gambling but everything else sounds great. I am not a fan of Lisa Vanderpump but I watch the show periodically. Curious what you and your wife think of it.

Didn’t end up going. We went there with every intent to have a cocktail but there was a line...on a Sunday...at 6pm. We peered inside and it seemed as though the line was artificial. It looked filled but not crowded. I don’t know. Wife agreed she didn’t care to wait to have a drink so we passed.

Ugh so I suck, my apologies for anyone following along with my less than witty banter. Another TR failed half way through. To be fair, shortly after I left off I received some less than ideal news on a personal situation I had been working on followed by an “emergency” (read: other peoples mistakes) at work that resulted in having to leave our day bed to go up to the room and work by myself. These two issues put a bit of a damper on the back half of the trip and also put me on tilt a bit on the floor.

Long story short I’ll stick to post trip reviews if I decide to try this again. I really suck at taking pictures and hoped this would force me to document more of my time. It didn’t. I also like to go back and read about my past trips and so even if no one else gets anything from these, at least I do, so I’ll likely continue with a debrief in the future.

In closing I’ll give my take for the rest of our food/gamble this trip.

    Gamble:
First trip in over 2 years without a w2. A few close but couldn’t connect on any of the big bets/high dollar VP/Slots. I did about 70k coin in and lost far more than 10%...we’ll leave it at that. It was my largest losing trip to date. My last trip ended in the black so I’m pretending some of that was house money and it helps me sleep at night. All kidding aside, while I went a bit over budget, these trips happen. I don’t like to make a habit of it, but I didn’t gamble away my last pennies so it’s all in good fun. I’ll be back.

    Status:
Evidently I messed up the math on something somewhere. I’m officially < 1000 points away from retaining platinum... so that sucks. I thought the room charges would push me over the edge after I shut it down early on my last night due to just burning money at $2 VP. (Points on VP come at a snails pace) I have until mid July. If anyone has any ideas on how to make up these few points I’m all ears. Another trip before then might be a tough sell to the wifey, especially given the loss this past trip. Would buying Cosmo gift cards work?

    Food:
Ok so we left off with Vanderpump and NOBU so ill start there.

Vanderpump - Didn’t go. There was a line at 6 on a Sunday. It looked artificial as it didn’t seem crowded inside but none the less wifey agreed she didn’t want to wait. I was overjoyed at the time. We instead lost 1K in VP at the bar waiting for our NOBU reservation. Should have waited to drink the overpriced Rose’

NOBU- Biggest food disappointment of the trip. We ordered some sushi, some famous shrimp tempura and the miso cod. Cod was very good. Shrimp tasted like popcorn shrimp at any cheap seafood joint. Sushi was fine, nothing more nothing less. With 2 drinks and 20% tip the bill was well over $200 and we were both still hungry. Don’t get me wrong the food was good, just nothing special and for the price we just felt underwhelmed.

Blue Ribbon - Fantastic. The oysters were fresh and delicious, the Fried Chicken was maybe the best I’ve ever had and the Paella was the best I’ve had outside of homemade from one of my wife’s coworkers mother who doesn’t speak English. (Not that it’s a pre req to good Paella, but you get the point) A+ will eat there again...and again.

Juice Bar Cosmo - the protein juice drink (that I’m sure is in no way healthy but made me feel good about my choices after working out) was really really good. It had a very unique taste that I can’t put my finger on, but damn was it tasty.

    Cosmo Buffet - Always good.

Cake Bar - Crack Pie. It needs no other description. Evidently they changed the name to something else because PC something or another but they know what you mean when you order it. It was featured on that Netflix show about famous chefs and it lived up to its expectations. Fantastically delicious. I’m not a big sweets guy, but perfect little desert to split if you want to try it.

So that’s it. Not the best trip but I try not to let the little things ruin an otherwise good time. My wife and I both work insane hours and I travel almost every week so anytime we get 4 days alone together it’s really nice to just relax and reconnect. I’ll be back before the year is over and do my best to take back what’s mine!

I’ll leave you degenerate freaks with one more shoe porn pic. Enjoy and thanks for reading what is hopefully a 1/2 way cohesive list of thoughts.

Thanks for the report CLE. Sorry the gaming results were poor....seems there is a lot of that going on! I wish you best of luck later in the year and happy you got some quality time with your wife.

Bummer the gambling sucked! :( The gift card thing might work to get to platinum, but im not 100% on that. Sounds like you had a pretty good trip otherwise!

Ugh bummer on Vanderpump. I guess theres not even a line for status TR people? (I used that, even with my lowly platinum, at Britney to get us in quicker)
Thank you so much for the update!

Also, your shoes are what I wish my husband would wear..

Thanks for the pre and post TR, even with some ups and downs it sounds like y’all had a great trip together and you maintained a good attitude to boot! I’ve had those trips where the gamble just doesn't shift into an even or winning gear, it stings, but it’s part of gambling and leave with a next time will be better mindset...

Thanks for your take on Blue Ribbon, just didn’t have time last trip but since I love fried chicken, we will hit it next time we’re at Cosmo for sure.

You probably made a good call on skipping Vanderpump or VainAndPompous as I like to call her. Oops, I shouldn’t prejudge

    They do!
One of my friends told me I was "showing off" my gambling.
I told her I got the status from the CC and knew how to use it

Also I'm still trying to figure out how to visit Vanderpump in two weekends without waiting forever, so there's that

They may have had one, but I didn’t see it. To be honest, I could tell my wife was on the fence and as soon as she conceded and agreed to go drink and play VP instead I hightailed it out of the area for fear she’d change her mind. In hindsight it was a costly decision but it spared me 90 min of sipping cocktails with what appeared to be 100 women drinking wine and talking about their feelings at an unnecessarily loud volume and you can’t really put a price tag on that...
