Anyone know why a majority of the slots are down at cosmo today or requiring a handpay regardless of amount? It seems like this was an issue about a week ago as well

Just read that they are attempting a software update that seems to be going very wrong.

I arrived after the problems reported in late April. No problems when I was there. But I asked at Identity desk... they told me it's internet problems.

Maybe thats what's affecting machines today.

When I left in early April half the machines and ALL of the ATM's were offline at 9 am.

Yeah they were having serious problems when I was there a couple weeks ago. A lot of machines were offline and you basically couldn't track your points at the machines. A lot of the time, machines would print vouchers, but wouldn't read them, so if you had a TITO you had to redeem it for cash to put in the machine. I only had to get a sub-jackpot handpay once though.

Fortunately the Identity Desk was able to give me an accurate number for coin-in, if you need it. And from what I see on the website and W/L statement, they are tracking play accurately.

They must be pulling their hair out if they haven't been able to fix it for 2 weeks (or a month according to what @Jspigare is saying). Yikes.

I was there Apr 30 - May 4 and never ran into it.

    Bullet dodged I suppose.

@Bubblehead I was there during the same time and had no problems either. Glad for that.

For the first 3 days of my trip there were zero issues, then Monday morning it was a mess. There were security guards in front of every ATM / TITO machine directing people to the cage. So strange - awful IT problems though, otherwise, Cosmo was awesome like usual.

Was at Cosmo for awhile today. There were some notes in other threads about access and software issues. Today, there were signs around the rewards desk indicating they are still doing software upgrades and some features including access to comps, free play, earning points and using tickets in machines were restricted. I asked to verify that I could earn points on a VP machine and, in spite of the sign, the lady said yes. Quite a few machines were still out of order even with the 100% upgrade.

Also, they are now the only casino (I know of) that is still printing tickets for change rather than dispensing that change when you cash a ticket...that is a little sketchy. On a positive note, they are not charging for parking yet.

People were leaving vouchers all over the place on top of slot machines and giving them to random people because the machines would only give vouchers for change my last few visits. I always find a machine with that bet level to finish off the credit as much as possible and leave it in the machine for the next person or I give it to someone sitting at a machine if I cannot find one right away to play it off or to a slot attendant if their the closest to me. I do not like to leave things lying around.

I just got back from three nights at Cosmo, and it was a mess. Guests were told a system upgrade would occur Tuesday between 5am and noon. But Monday afternoon, everything broke. Most cash outs generated a hand pay. Tickets could only be cashed as the cashier.

Things were somewhat improved Wednesday, but still issues. Some machines down. Unable to use points/free play or earn points on resort spend. I was also told slots would earn points (and presembly play tracked) although I’m somewhat skeptical. Hopefully, this is true because otherwise it’s going to appear that I significantly underplayed my offer.

A lot of people at Aria were "donating" to Din Tai Fung

Just so you know, it's illegal for someone to play credits that someone has left in a machine. I'm not sure how much its enforced in Vegas, but there have been arrests made in Colorado over tiny amounts.

Yeah it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I don't recommend leaving credits on a machine or leaving a voucher sitting on the shelf of one.

I had an experience on one trip where I accidentally left a LOT of credits on a machine, realized it, came back about 5 mins later and some lady was playing them. She denied it, so I got security and they reviewed the video and absolutely grilled her. I lost money in the deal but it may have been worse for her.

Cash out and give the voucher to someone if they'll take it, or donate it (I think a lot of places now have things like what @DaiLun showed) or keep it, or just throw it away.

When I was there a couple of weeks ago, the TITO redemption machines at MB weren't dispensing change but were giving you like 4 choices of what to do with it. I can't remember what Cosmo was doing, I don't think I used any of their dispensers.

I don't think that the Din Tai Fung thing at Aria is "official". There is a space between the glass doors and someone probably started by dropping a TITO through the space, then someone dropped a dollar, and so on.

I know I recently saw a pic of something similar at some other casino, can't remember which one. Some small sculpture display where people were leaving TITOs.

Are you thinking about the laughing buddha at the back entrance to Aria, upstairs from Jewel nightclub?

Oh wow I feel like a jerk then. I almost always leave like 20-30 cents or basically anything less than the minimum bet. I hate small little TITOs like that.

Had no idea and always thought of it as kind of a good luck to the next person.

    Won't be doing that anymore!
