Trying something different this trip & leaving the Boyd casinos for the strip.
Between the Terrace Studio & King Strip View, which one would you rather have for the same price & why? I get a $50 resort credit with Aria, but can't get over the terrace option (we're smokers so it'll be nice to go right outside the room to smoke). We're mainly interested in comfy rooms, good restaurants & drink service on the casino floor, lol.
Just curious what people's opinion is since I read that Cosmo recently refreshed their rooms. Thanks!

Rescheduled for the last time, hopefully...

    Let’s see...
    Comfy rooms
    Good restaurants
    Good drink service
    Terrace for smoking

For the same price then it’s Cosmopolitan every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

LOL, yah I know...I just keep going back & forth because of the damn $50 resort credit. I'm not a high roller so I still gotta pay resort fees :(

Drink service and rooms are a runaway win for Cosmo. Restaurants just the opposite. Stay at Cosmo and make the 5 minute walk to eat at Aria.

I love some of the restaurants at Cosmo! I especially like China Poblano and Jaleo. Holsteins is very solid. Compare and contrast Five50 at Aria vs. Secret Pizza at Cosmo!

That said, Aria has a great line up as well. Love Javier’s and Lemongrass.

I don’t mean to disparage Cosmo’s offerings. There are some excellent options. But Aria is as good as it gets for me. I love Sage, Serrano, Jean Georges, Bardot, Herringbone...and I’ve yet to even try Carbone, which gets almost universal praise. Though, they do have a glaring weak spot when it comes to cheap and/or quick eats. The cafe is crap.

For a whole pie, Five50 >> Secret, IMO. But I don’t think their slices work as well as Secret’s do. So at 2 am, I’ll take Secret every time.

From one smoker to another, Cosmo. Not having to take an elevator and go into the casino to smoke is so nice.

I agree that Aria’s quality is as good (or close). But top to bottom Cosmo is much more diverse. Ramen at Momofuku, desserts at world class Milk Bar, late night or around the clock eats The Henry, amazing burgers and shakes at Holsteins, quick/cheapish breakfast at Eggslut. Those are all pretty unique. Aria is mostly fine dining. Other options at Cosmo are well positioned like Milos pre fixe lunch. Rose Rabbit Lie is so unique.

To OP, drink service and quality is much better at Cosmo imo

@thecarve you took the words right out of my mouth. Much better restaurants at Aria but can't beat Cosmo slot selection, ambiance, rooms, balconies, service and pools are alos way better than Aria

Ack, my two home bases. I deviated my last two trips and kicked myself.

If prices are similar, even though I love Aria, hands down Cosmo. Gorgeous Casino, Easy strip access, great rooms, and stellar rewards program. Mlife treats us great, but it doesn't hold a candle to Identity.

I also prefer the food at Cosmo. They just have more options at ALL price points, and all levels, even their food court, is more like food trucks with homemade flavor and pizazz. Holsteins is still our reigning burger on the strip, The Henry has an amazing short rib benedict and the best Cobb salad I've had, and we prefer Wicked Spoon on the buffet. Milo's and, (I believe) Jaleo have great lunch menus, though I keep forgetting to hit them each trip.

LOVE Cosmo's food options, but I'm a mid-tier price/high quality food fan. Too pricey and I'm out. Cosmo gives me the best bang for my buck on mid-tier, and absolutely has higher tier amazing options, I just can only speak to mid-tier ($20 or so per plate). I just love that Cosmo gives such a great variety of price options...ALL high quality/non processed, more artisan.

Again, I love both Aria and Cosmo, but Cosmo is our #1 as long as we keep getting offers!

(PS JUMP on it if rooms are similar on cost. Aria is around $150+ for a reg room depending on night. Cosmo's terrace rooms can EASILY be above $300, even for a studio)

And oh yeah. .. The DRINKS! They serve Grey goose on the reg floor upon request, and their raspberry lemon drop is iconic.... And I don't even like sweet drinks, but love that one!

Cosmo. Walk to Aria for food some nights or when Cosmo tables are being mean.

    That’s pretty much my routine

Surely worth more than $50 to not have to go downstairs everytime you want to smoke :D

I will jump on and agree with the main sentiment here. Both are my home bases and I love Aria, but if equal pricing, Cosmo all the way. The eats are wonderful at both properties, I find you get better bang for your buck at Cosmo. Last time I went to Sage, the food was below their standards, but the service was stellar.

For me, the cost of going down to the casino floor for smoke breaks usually adds up to a lot more than fifty bucks over the course of a trip. Pick the Cosmo.

Edit: Oh yeah, the rooms are substantially better at the Cosmo. Both places are lovely, but the Cosmo is just... better.

Made the move from Aria to Cosmo years ago and haven't looked back. You might find that your play gets you perks at Cosmo even if it doesn't get much at Aria. Every tier level is vastly superior at Cosmo. And if you ever get to Platinum on both, it is night and day difference. Aria isn't going to provide airport transportation EVERY trip, give you $250 yearly resort credit to add to your offers, give you 2 nights for a companion and two free/non comp driven nights per year. Not to mention much better offers. Aside from that, that balcony trumps Aria 1000%, for me. Location is better, diversity of restaurants is better, drinks are better and easier to come by, and the slot selection is absolutely unparalleled. Guess it is pretty clear that I am another solid vote for Cosmo. Hope you will follow up and let us know what you chose and what you thought!

Never stayed at Cosmo (so I probably shouldn't weigh in at all!). I've considered it for a hotel stay, but somehow I don't feel like I'm hip/cool/ironic/whimsical enough to stay there. This probably isn't fair--I'm guessing I wouldn't be the only 40-something teacher staying there. But for whatever reason I just don't feel as relaxed there as I do at Aria or Bellagio. And we love the Aria/Bellagio pools.

That said, we love most of the Cosmo restaurants mentioned above--Jaleo, especially. Our discovery this last trip was Hattie B's in the food court, which was delicious. (The donut shop was a bit disappointing, however.)

Cosmo will comp you rooms or close to it if you have an existing Aria or other high end reservation. email [email protected] and tell him you are from the VMB and he will help you out as best he can depending on the dates. He comped me 2 nights for this coming November. :wiggle:
