Hey all. My wife and I are planning a trip to Vegas May 7th-13th.

We are stuck on hotel room. We have stayed at the Venetian and like it, but simply want a change of scenery and a more centered hotel. We like to walk around and hit all the casinos and shop shop shop.

We are looking at the Cosmo 1 bedroom fountain view or Caesars Augustus Strip view. We are in our late 30s. I lean more towards Caesar's but I am worried my room with be on a lower floor and we will be out of luck to see much. The Cosmo room looks nice with the terrace.

Seems I've read the Caesars casino is smokey, but their pools are great. Wonder how the European one is...

Cosmo looks nice, clean and bright. STK is good, but my wife and I have agreed that besides Joe's and Lotus we are going to try all new places to eat.

Both the room cost look to be around 275 before taxes and fees so price isn't issue. I have rewards points through Chase to book either trip. but I am wondering if I will have a better room/floor number if I go through the hotel direct.

    Any help would be great.

Cosmo fountain view is the best room on the strip IMO

Cosmo. Property is nicer, restaurant selection is better. Jaleo, Rose Rabbit Lie, Momofuku, China Poblano, Eggslut are all great in addition to STK. Cosmo pools are also solid.

Plus you have the added bonus of the balcony, fountain view, and the two person Japanese soaking tub in the room. No contest compared to Caesars if you ask me. Cosmo 1BR is my and my girlfriend's favorite room in Vegas for when we travel together.

My two favorite rooms in town. Both views are tough to beat, but I like the balcony during the nicer parts of the year. Wherever you decide to book, just let the front desk know what you are looking for and they can accommodate if available (easier on weekdays).

Food options are plentiful and very good at both properties. Caesars is an easier walk to the mid-Strip properties and some of the chain restaurants, Cosmo is closer to Hawaiian Marketplace and more off beat stuff if you're walking around. Caesars has the bigger pool complex, but only one pool as opposed to multiple at Cosmo.

Tough choice, hope that helps in some way. Can't go wrong either way IMO!

Cosmo 1 bedroom. The balcony makes it.

When it's pool season, we always split our stay between Caesars and the Cosmo staying 3 nights at each. Both are great properties but if I had to choose between the 2, Cosmo gets my vote. It has the better casino atmosphere and the best selection of slots on the entire strip.

If you're pool people and a relaxing, beautiful pool (like Venetian/Palazzo) is really important, then Caesars. Personally, I'd stay with V/P over Caesars, it's way nicer.

But otherwise, Cosmo hands down. Better room, better casino, better bars and drinks, much better restaurants, better vibe (and I'm 58!). Also not so much of a hike to the strip if you want to go wandering.

Cosmo easily, though I am surprised that Caesars is that expensive. Must be the dates.

As to using your Chase points - not sure if that is the best use. If you are getting $1.50 in booking for each 100 points ($.015 per point), then not to bad. We use all Chase/Amex points for airfare any usually get more like 2-5 cents per point doing business class. Depends on how many points you have and what you will use them for.

I'm in my 30s as well as Cosmo is a younger hipper place then Caesars. The last time I was in Vegas I stayed at Caesars, but considering that you and your wife enjoy shopping there are two malls in your immediate vicinity with Crystals and the Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood.

I had a pool view room last time at Caesars When I stayed at the Octavious tower, but the first time I ever stayed at Caesars was an Augustus tower fountain view room. It was very nice and I enjoyed watching the fountains from that room although I doubt that it could compare to the balconies at the Cosmo.

Honestly either one is a good choice but I'd learn more cosmo.

The Augustus Tower fountain view rooms look at the fountains from a side view, so it's not an optimal viewing angle. You don't get "much" sound, so it's kinda like watching a silent movie.

Also, depending on how far back you get, view of the strip may be obscured.

Never stayed at Cosmopolitan, but stayed in the Augustus tower my last 10 trips (both fountain and non-fountain view).
