Roll Over, Beethoven.
R.I.P. A true original and pioneer of rock and roll. Age 90.
Managed to catch him live a few times, fantastic. One of a kind. RIP Chuck thanks for all those great songs.
When I first started playing guitar ---
the ONLY soloing I could do -
was THEE Chuck Berry riff.
Keith Richard is still gettin' away with it !
Chuck pullin' up to the stage door in his Cadillac -
getting paid CASH first !.........from the promoter -
Then, opening up his guitar case, pullin' out his guitar, and hittin' the stage -
Screw the backup band + what key he was playing in !
Bye, bye Johnny.
Onward to the Promised Land, Johnny B Goode. Always a fan, RIP
One who truly bridged my parent's generation and mine!
Yep, ditto Johnnie B. Goode RIP
Entertainer-innovator-wordsmith deluxe. We shall not look upon his like again.
My ding a ling! RIP CB!
For $4.50 you could have seen this bill in 1973. Springsteen opened with 4 songs, his band backed Berry.
Saw Chuck Berry with the Grateful Dead at the Portland Meadows in May of '95. He was, well okay. Still fun to see him. I think he may have been indulging with the band before he came on.
ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN!
The TRUE King of Rock and Roll!
Right on......my last Dead shows, Memorial Day Weekend 95' wasn't it ? The only time I saw Chuck, glad I did, an innovator and pioneer.
Jerry loved Chuck.
( horrible Dead shows as I recall )
Yes, they were not very good shows. I was disappointed. I had taken my son, who was about 12 at the time. He was half interested so that did not help the experience.
Chuck would have been 69 if my math works.
We were Phil Side fairly close, did his one legged kick move across stage, is that the duck walk ?
He was a rocker, glad I saw him.
I think the duck walk was when he was in a squat and started walking across the stage with his guitar facing the audience. And I am not sure what side we were on. We moved around. I think the weather was pretty warm that day and I seem to remember trying to find some shade.
