    My Trip Report

    Pre-report arrive 6/20/04 return 6/25/04

    1) 1st night at Buffalo Bill's.....using free coupon sent in the mail as a slot club member.

    2) 2nd-5th night at Whiskey pete's. $13/night. Total $56.89 including tax.

    3) 6/23/04 one night at the Plaza in Las Vegas. $23.94

Total cost for 5 nights lodging $80.83

First real vacation in 3 years, but we need to do it on a budget. Driving from Los Angeles. We plan to rely heavily on coupons. Tourist center in Primm will yield us 2 funbooks with 2 for 1 buffets. There's a tourist center in Jean...hoping for a couple more discounts.A friend told us the Arby's in Baker,CA has Stations Casinos 2 for 1 buffet coupons and terrible's coupons...plan to grab a handfull.

We have a coupon to see Dirk Arthur magic show at the Plaza $29.95 for 2 with kids free. So we booked a room there for the 23rd. We still have our room at Whiskey Pete's that night as we are nervous about many bad reviews of the Plaza.

I'll check back with a review after the trip.

found in the "Everything Las Vegas Newsletter" issue #433 June 4:

"Magician Dirk Arthur closed "The New Art of Magic" at the downtown Plaza last
weekend, a few days after the hotel announced the magic show would be
replaced in September by a Dick Clark-helmed oldies rock revue.

Producers of the Clark show originally said they would wait until the end of
August to take over the room. A Plaza spokeswoman said Tuesday it was Arthur's
choice to go ahead and close early.

The unofficial word is that Arthur will go to the Riviera's "Splash" as a
specialty headliner. He had a similar job in "Jubilee!" before going out on his
    own."

Hope this doesn't put a damper on your trip-just wanted you to know before you go.

    Thanks for the info, Birdie.

Kind of kills off the whole reason for the plaza stay. At least I have a couple of days look around for a new idea.

I think if you're o.k. with Whiskey Pete's and Buffalo Bills, the Plaza will be just fine. I've never stayed there, but I love the casino and from what I've seen of the rooms, they're clean and certainly adequate. I think you might be pleasantly surprised!

Thanks, bigdogmom. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised. The only reason for picking the Plaza was to see the magic show with the kids. We have already seen Mac king, so I haven't seen anymore great deals on magic.

Would appreciate any ideas for a show that the Kids can see and maybe some cheap price or coupons. Only one day till we head out.

    Trip Report-
    1st Night- Buffalo Bill's.

    20 min. check-in @ 5PM.

Good Room with nice cold air conditioner.
$5.95 Prime Rib was tough at coffee shop
after a 40 minute wait, got inside and it
was half full.....the buffet had closed
    at 8pm.

Drink service was good while gaming.

    2nd,3rd,5th night- Whiskey Pete's

    Check in quick @ 2PM

Room was nice but had noisy neighbors and
    changed rooms.

Buffet has added an action station which
had excellent pan seared staek. The rest
of the Buffet was about the worst I've
    ever had.

The Pool has a water slide..the kids loved it.

Same deal as Buffalo Bill's coffee shop with
a line and the thing half full. I inquired
and they said only 4 food servers on duty
so they only opened up 1/2. Makes sense.
I did notice many Eastern Europeans
now working at both places. They
were courteous and hard working. One said she
was from Poland, and we had a blackjack
dealer named Vladimir. Looks like maybe
they have found a way to get employees
who actually want to work in Primm.

Slow drink service at the slots and fast
    at the tables.

    4th night - The Plaza.

No wait to check in at 3PM.

Requested a view of Fremont Street when
booking and got it on arrival. GREAT VIEW!

No smell in Casino, No smell in Room. Can't
figure out all the Bad Smell reviews
I've read, unless it was before the
    present owners.

We all liked the Fremont Street Experience
    show.

Ducked in and out of several downtown casinos.
    Was pleasantly surprised in the
Gold Spike...after ordering a draft beer
while playing slots, the waitress brought
    a 40 OZ. Cup.
    WooHoo!

Tried the $9.99 Steak and Lobster at
The Plaza. Lobster was a little mushy
    around the edges-steak was excellent.

All in all a nice trip with bad gambling and below average food. We think we will stick to one place next time as the packing and repacking is a real hassle.

Just booked another trip. Buffalo Bill's Aug 17 arrival and leaving on the 20th. $15 bucks a night. Total of $51.30 including tax. I was outvoted by the wife and kids as I prefer Whiskey Pete's.

We don't plan on getting into Vegas this time, but might add a night on the 16th ....we have a free night coupon that was sent as a Jean players club member.

We plan on heavy pool use, lot's of fine dining and minimal gambling.
