We haven't been since DuPars closed. Where can we get cheap shrimp cocktail downtown? Is there still such a thing?

The Lanai Express at The Fremont Hotel has .99 cent shrimp cocktails. Although technically a shrimp cocktail it pails in comparison to what DuPars served.

Just a few years ago we visited DuPars for the first time, $2 shrimps, I was in love. It quickly went up. I miss $2 shrimps.

The shrimp cocktail at Golden Gate was a loss leader for years and years, DuPars did a short-lived nod to tradition. Golden Gate actually did lose money selling their famous shrimp cocktail. That is sadly no longer part of the Vegas playbook. Almost every trip I would collect my dollar or two dollar shrimp cocktail in the cafeteria line and head to the video poker bar with my napkins and saltines to score a comped beer. Then someone would pull in beside me and ask the bartender for the same thing. Sorry, my friend, a little more effort required.
