Changes that would you suggest to downtown casino bosses?

Every bathroom should have a walk-in shower. The only curtain I EVER want to see in a hotel room is over my windows.

Have a gift shop open 24 hours (like El Cortez). I know there's always Walgreens, but sometimes you don't want to walk over there at 2am.

This is directed mainly at Main Street and Cal. They close way too early.

This echos some of the previous comments and won't apply everywhere downtown, but why not heavily advertise the many benefits of playing there? That includes better pay tables, 3:2 BJ, brewpub (MSS), low minimums, etc. Sure, this is familiar territory for most VMB members, but it's amazing how many tourists don't have a clue what downtown has going for it. We're talking ads and billboards to spread the word.

It's not that I'm all that anxious to increase the crowds any further at my favorite places, but if it's done right, it might shame a couple casinos on the Strip into making things better. Yeah, why not put in a single zero wheel, and where does MSS get off increasing their Pai Gow to $15?

I don't know, there have been several things I've done in Vegas I'm ashamed of. :)

The Fremont and the Cal should at least meet MSS halfway on the odds on craps. The double odds is just annoying.

Agreed. It would also be great if Boyd would offer DAS on their BJ games downtown.

I need the baccarat tables open earlier. If you're a rated gambler downtown large enough to get comped rooms, you should never pay for breakfast. If there is a show at that casino, you get in. The rest you earn. Take care of gamblers, and give us a reason to come back.

    1. Boyd properties need to start allowing DAS. This would be huge.
    2. Golden Gate & 'theD' need to start offering a DD game on the main floor.
    3. Plaza's "party pit room" really does need to be in a better spot (near the sports book would, indeed. work well),...oh, and add a $10 DD game in there with DAS to replace the one that vanished when the LVC closed.
    4. Get rid of slotzilla...completely...no zip-line at all...trash it.
    5. A covered over-head walkway (or underground tunnel) connecting the Plaza with FSE would sure help add traffic to the Plaza... in exchange, perhaps they would then start paying their FSE dues - especially if slotzilla was gone. No buskers or loitering permitted on or in such a walkway...might have to make it a people-mover to accomplish that.
    6. In-room coffee! I'm talking to YOU, Boyd!
    7. Shiner Bock needs to be available at all tables everywhere downtown.
    8. Work out an arrangement so that all of the downtown casinos accept everyone's chips (black-green-red). Strip properties used to do this back in the day, and it was great.
    9. Turn the music down just a bit at 'theD'.
    10. Re-route the WAX so that it drops off at Casino Center & Fremont instead of 4th @ Carson.

shok... that's why they'd probably have to do a 'people mover' tunnel or walkway... that way there's no place to loiter.

    1) A big badass sports book somewhere, fuck, just anywhere downtown.

    2) Make 6:5 Blackjack a painful distant memory.

    3) Try and make sure your dealers A) Speak decent English - they don't have to have a degree in Eng.Lit., but fuck me Freddy, a passable conversational grasp of the language would be oh so helpful. B) If you have a shit ton of complaints about a surly dealer, fucking fire them. I don't want nor do I expect the dealer to be happy all the time and over the top cheery ala the waiter in Office Space - but If I'm being dealt shitty cards or spins by a death camp kommandant, you're more than likely going to lose my business.

    4) Speed up the drink service - looking at you Four Queens and Golden Nugget - the worst offenders by far in my experience. The dt casinos are small, there is no excuse to have a player waiting 8-10 minutes for a godamned beer - a domestic beer at that.

    5) Not too much of anything pit bosses can do, but take down that ridiculous fucking zip line. Fuck that thing.

Unfortunately that seems to be the type of people they are going for at the D and GG (drinkers and partiers).

Just FYI, the Plaza management did not want to participate in the FSE so the FSE people tried to ice them out by building a big stage that blocks off the view of the Plaza. That way the Plaza doesn't get the exposure from the FSE.

Also note, the Plaza has a decent sized sports book (one of the largest downtown). El Cortez also has a sports book that is a little larger than the other books. Yeah, the Cal and Fremont have sports books but they aren't very large.

The number one thing I would suggest to Boyd.....BRING BACK THE COFFEE SHOP that was near the entrance facing Binions. Get rid of that crappy noodle shop and put the coffee shop in there. You lost a lot of diners when you got rid of that coffee shop.

It will be interesting to see if any changes are made to the zipline structure at the Plaza end of the FSE once the remodelled LVC nears opening.

What I'd like to see is a higher end fast-food burger joint (eg. in'n'out/SmashBurger/FatBurger/etc) on Fremont (I know there's now 'Flipping Good' lower down the street)

I can agree with nearly all of the suggestions, but it appears that a good portion of them go far beyond the title's mention of downtown "casino bosses." I doubt that many bosses have much power beyond the casino, but they can probably influence the powers-to-be more than we can.

For a few more suggestions: put in a cheapie hotdog cart similar to the ones at Orleans and Gold Coast. Bring back the Sunspots at the Plaza, or to go back further in time, the live entertainment stage in the Four Queens. Who remembers that? My other suggestions would be the tear down the canopy and put Fremont Street back the way it was, but there's no point in nostalgia exceeding reality. :)
