He has since responded. Chicago Cubs broadcast just now reported that Mets announced Cespedes opted out of 2020 season.

Why bother playing this virus infested meaningless season -
when you hit the FREE AGENT MARKET......again !
The Mets got about one half great season out of this guy for
ALL THAT INCREDIBLE MONEY of his contract.
    He's happy.
    Mets and fans are not.

This season is a farce. Put an end to it!

    And the NFL.

Being the Mets, of course there's another side of the story. His agents have said that the Mets were notified the previous day, implying that they're purposely making him look worse. And, being a lifelong Mets fan, I have no reason to believe any claim the Mets make. They are among the worst run franchises in all of sports.

I agree. Personally, I don't think NFL will even start. Between physical limitations and hopefully some common sense I hope they make that decision.

Add the NBA to that list.

Not a young player and a number of injuries. If I'd made the kind of money he had I don't think I'd play and would likely retire.

No.......you wouldn't retire with becoming a FREE AGENT next season.
That's a whole lot more money coming your way !.........and the rest of your
relatives you support, living in a Third World country.
You would go for another contract.......cos some jaggoff will pay you !
........and then you say you got injured playing......and disappear, again !
