    My Trip Report

Some of you may have read the pre-trip thread about our annual journey to the month of March in Palm Springs. This year, we decided to 'casino hop' there - Seven Feathers in southern Oregon, Harrah's Reno (subsequently cancelled due to weather), and two days in Vegas.

After a 9 hour drive (thankfully, on a Sunday so traffic through Sea/Tac/Oly and Portland was quite fine), we arrived at Seven Feathers. Valet parking was easy (after determining that 'security' was good; our Rav4 is loaded with stuff for PS), we snagged a room.

The room is quite fine ... I'm guessing about 450 sq ft comparing it to Orleans rooms. A 2 or 3 minute walk to the casino and restaurants. First order of business was a Player's Card, then a beer in the non-smoking section bar (about $10 for two beers; nothing free). We did manage $1.25 chips and salsa to go with the second round of beers (Coors Light for S; Alaska Amber for me).

Our Players' Club sign up netted us a total of $25 free play, which we mostly wasted on a quarter vp machine (10/8/5/3/1/1 whatever that is ... although 4oak and above were all progressive (aces just over $100). Despite a couple of 3 4s and 3 aces, nothing memorable.

We dabbled in a few slots before retiring to the room to sort out wifi, etc. No wins to speak of (someone on the pre trip thread mentioned how 'tight' the slots are).

Too late for the $10.99 steak/prawns dinner in the steakhouse (before 6:30), we ended up at the cafe for the $10 ribeye steak special. Given that a rather small glass of wine was $6, we opted for the $24 bottle, after ascertaining that we could take it with us (after all, we have another 9 hour driving day ahead of us). The dinner was nothing to write home about, but quite serviceable.

After dinner, we attempted another Jackson slot win, but (horseshoes and hand grenades) nothing was gained. Retiring to the room, with a long day ahead of us (and lots of fresh snow on the Siskyous; luckily we have 4 wheel drive on the Rav), time to type this up.

Pics are on my phone. If I can figure out how to add them via Tapatalk, they'll be next. Should be self explanatory after the above descriptions.

Questions about Seven Feathers gladly answered.

Well, I somehow managed to add some phone pics via Tapatalk (wasn't easy). They're out of order .... but questions answered if you have any!

Tomorrow is somewhere along US99 near Fresno; by mid afternoon on Tuesday, we'll be at Luxor.

Yikes. That VP game is horrendous. You're getting killed with the notch on two pair. 94.18% before the progressive, which can't be bumping it to much over 95% given the royal appears to be $12xx.xx.

Good luck finding a better game!

Finally arrived at Luxor after a very long drive yesterday (600+ miles from mp 99 in Oregon to Tulare, Ca .... via snow in southern Oregon and hailstorms in Sacramento and Stockton which slowed traffic to a crawl. 10 1/2 hours on the road).

A 5 hour drive today, which included another hailstorm (34F) at the pass west of Vegas. Grabbed roo 1075 as it was available. Never been on first floor before ... actually quite good in that it's only a few feet from casino.

Activated my Free Play ($50 from MyVegas) and turned it into $44 on their lousy paytables. However, it's more than I started with ... ;).

Off now to grab the NFI $35 coupon for dinner.

After the free play, we headed north to collect the NFI coupon and wander some. Dropping a Jackson in each, I broke even at NYNY (twice) and Aria. Lost some at Bellagio and the Jackson at Cromwell playing their 9/6 and 8/5 VP games.

Back to NFI for dinner. Sat in the small area facing the casino. It was quite pleasant, especially with a good band playing somewhere in the casino. I had the seafood chowder 'pot' - very good with all sorts of seafood in a creamy, tomato broth. S had the lamb stew. Along with two 20 oz beers, only $21 (plus tip) after the coupon. Our server was a delightful young girl.

S then ran through her $25 free play (MyVegas) at Luxor with no luck.

I didn't take any pics, other than the NFI menu and my seafood 'pot'. I'll add them later from my phone.

Tomorrow is probably an ACG coupon run on the east side and downtown.

Thanks, @TIMSPEED - yes, we've driven down here for awhile ... late Feb/early March isn't usually like that at all!

Btw, I did 'wave' as we passed Patterson yesterday ... ;).

Supposed to be cool again tomorrow, but eventually warming up in Palm Springs next week.

Ack. Sounds like you'll never go back there again.

And bonus/JoB hierarchy looks like this from lowest to highest

    10/8/5/3/3/1 Bonus (94.18%)
    6/5 JoB (95.00%)
    7/5 JoB (96.15%)
    30/6/5 Bonus (96.18%)
    6/5 Bonus (96.87%)
    8/5 JoB (97.30%)
    35/6/5 Bonus (97.36%)
    7/5 Bonus (98.01%)
    9/5 JoB (98.45%)
    30/8/5 Bonus (98.48%)
    8/5 Bonus (99.17%)
    9/6 JoB (99.54%)
    35/8/5 Bonus (99.66%)

Whew! Sadly the last game doesn't exist in Vegas, afaik. 8/5 Treasure Chest is close to 35/8/5 Bonus though at 99.56% for quarters.

    Good luck in Vegas!

Thanks, Tring - as I said, we had little choice. As it was 'their money', it was more bearable. It was so tight we hardly hit anything ... only one x 2 pair IRC. We were hoping for the big, progressive hit.

Continuing ... we did the coupon run today. I didn't take notes and few pics, so I'll try to remember the (horrible) results. If you're looking for any 'winnings', go elsewhere ... ;). In summary, after several hundred VP hands, nothing above a flush (and I really can't remember one of those!).

I'll do this in two parts as the pics are from the beginning and the end .....

First stop was Klondike for their free breakfast and whatever a new slot club member could get. The freebie was any 'entree' so S had the (rather large/several pieces/see pic) ham steak. I had a chorizo burrito. See the pics (next post).

Aside from losing my phone (and getting it back from Security, thankfully!), we chased the "get a free gift after 100 points promo". I had a grea run on various VP games initially, and S did OK on Wild Wolf, but we gave up the 'chase' after dropping some coin.

    Pics next post.

After Klondike, we headed north to several 'locals' casinos, then downtown.

First stop was Longhorn - a 'free ace' netted me a $5 blackjack. However the subsequent $5 match play lost to a dealer hitting 19 on four cards.

Then off to Bighorn, where our free play again netted nada. Moving to their blackjack table, I was pleasantly surprised that I could double on any number of cards .... I had eleven on my first three vs a dealer 5 up. However, she hit 19 to my 14 and another $10 gone .... (that's a theme today).

Jerry's Nugget netted a carry bag and a deck of cards, but nothing else from the $10 free play ... sigh.

Finally off to downtown. Parking at MSS, we needed to earn 100 points to pay for parking. ACG gave 5x points, but it was YAH day, so we spun 10x on reels/6x on vp. Parking easily paid for.

Spent two sessions at Boars Head, A lot of up and down, but eventually nothing won. I had a good convo with Oleg, but didn't meet any other VMB'ers. High Roller beers were quite good.

Off to Cal for some more 10x/6x play, buy nothing gained. Then to Downtown Grand. Earned enough points to get their $10 free play and actually cashed some out.

We watched some Sigman Derby and their, similar brand new horse racing version (only opened today) at the D, but didn't gamble there. Wandered through 4 Queens, earned some more points at Fremont (10x/6x, again), down to the Plaza, the back to MSS for their senior's "draw" (didn't win, of course).

At that point decided to hit Ellis Island for their ACG promos and the $7.99 steak dinner. I won $25 free play on their spin and cashed out $20. However, on their $10 match play I was dealt 13 vs as 2 showing. I hit a 7 for 20 .... the dealer hit (2) 3, 5 A for 21! Pretty much the theme for the day.

The 'steak special' was its usual good deal (play $5 first to get the discount). The bill for two of them plus a glass of merlot was $22. Pics next post.

So, absolutely nothing of importance won in a day and a half here. Off to Palm Springs for a month tomorrow. We have had some success at the Agua Caliente there, so will probably give it a go.

    Cheers, GG.
