So, Casa Don Juan was my go to choice for Mexican. I've had three no so great experiences now. Prices have gone up (40% on tacos and $3 on my carnitas plate for two) and quality has gone down. It's time to find somewhere new.

Any ideas besides Viva Mercado's and the Michoacan restaurants?

We had this family owned place that we went to all the time - Vega Cafe. Went to find a link for you and they're closed:cry:

It's so hard for mom & pop restaurants to compete in Vegas. Anytime we found one we made it a point to go back if the food was good.

It's not Mexican but Salvadoreno at 720 North Main Street is Salvadorian food and it is delicious and cheap! Family owned & very friendly.

I do enjoy Salvadorian and haven't been there. Thanks for the suggestion.
