Lol. @KellyVB almost declared me nuts for bringing my coffee setup and cooler bag to fill with ice to keep drinks cool, but this is next level. @KellyVB we need a microwave next time!
A few people on this board bring their own coffee setup. @ReTriggerMe @bruxhina @the_9th_island come to mind. It’s just such a convenience not having to get dressed to get food/drink or to wait for room service delivery. I have low keyed wondered about setting up a way for VMBers to get stuff people buy to reuse. Cuz a lot of people buy stuff to use and then leave or throw it away and thats kinda sad and wasteful. I know coffee (not for me, but I could use a tea kettle lol), microwave and fridge are all handy, but not really feasible to fly with. I dunno if there’s a way to do that and people could contribute whatever to keep the locker storage going lol
I ordered these F1 earplugs to be delivered on Thursday. It’s STILL out for delivery, but supposedly will be delivered today. Good thing Im still here and can go back to Harrah’s to retrieve it, but dang! I’m debating on keeping or returning them. The noise actually wasn’t that bad during the race, but always good to protect your ears! Maybe I’ll keep them and use for concerts
I always travel with my little collapsible coffee pot, but having a microwave would be great. I would be all for a storage locker we could all use, but I think it might be hard to divide it up when a bunch of us were in town. If we could figure that out - it would be great. I love a fan too. One of my trips I was staying at Bally's in one of the larger suites and there was a cubbyhole that had a table and chairs in it, but the vents were not good there. The guy from maintenance let me borrow one of their nice fans on a stand and it was so great. That was a nice suite, but the vents in that part of the room were just no good so using that table and chairs was hot because of the huge windows there. That fan was wonderful and I loved sleeping to that noise too. When I used to stay at Flamingo in the Cosmopolitan Suite - it had a microwave and I loved that. Having access to more stuff when flying would be great. We have so many smart people on here - someone figure this out LOL.
How are you getting it delivered to harrahs? When I said stuff to the hotel business centre , you are supposed to state the dates you are staying on the label and they store them for you.
Agree on the fan. I have a foldable hand held fan that doubles as a USB storage brick. However for sleep, there are mini ones that have a stand. I also bring Eucalyptus oil just in case to soothe. I know some people bring humidifiers.
Oh. My friend told me I could just ship to the hotel (I’ve never done that before). I asked front desk and they sent me to FedEx peeps even though it’s USPS. I spoke to FedEx peeps and was told it gets routed to a PO Box or another location and they go and pick it up and then will deliver to you. Front desk said they are closed on weekends so the bellman can go in to retrieve the item for you when it is closed. Had it arrived in time, I would have gotten it while I was there since I just left on Sunday.
Yeah there are instructions on the Caesars website to state your dates of stay. They store it for you until you arrive and then they send the runner to deliver it to your room. There is also a $10 fee per package that is charged to your room... https://caesarsrewards.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/807
Yeah, fans, hats, sunglasses, sunscreens. So many little Knick knacks we all forget and buy and then don’t take with us. Febreeze and snacks for me lol I want a space heater. I turn up the heat to 80 degrees in the hotel rooms and I’m always cold! So I was thinking next trip I need to bring one lol Outside of a storage unit where we have a lock combo people can access, I don’t know of a way to do this. Smarter people help lol
I was thinking about this when I read about your microwave.... (Driving is different, but that aside) I wonder if a group could rent a storage locker. I don't need a full locker. I doubt I would want more than one-tenth of a storage locker. Plus, not worth the cost of even the cheapest locker, for me. I think a small unit is about $300/year. I'd split that with a group. $30 -$40 a year, each person gets one of those big storage tubs to keep things equal. I'd store a small toaster oven, a few mugs, some coffee and brewer. Maybe a heavier jacket or sweater... all the stuff that's too much for my travel as carryon only. A community use element would be nice too. "Hey, anyone is welcome to use this ____________" , although there'd need to be some scheduling, because it would realistically mean "use this __________ that I bought, unless I'm going to be there and need it." Just random thoughts..... in my den, with a mug of coffee, not yet prepared to leave home.
Oh I didn’t know about the fee. I would have gladly paid it if it had arrived on time! I want to return it but I’m afraid it’ll get stuck in a limbo if I say request a refund and return it…so figured it’s better I retrieve the item and then likely keep it lol
I've done that. There's a pickup fee, or was at Mandalay Bay. Didn't really mind that, but it was a hike to FedEx in the convention center. I shipped my own deluxe tube for the lazy river.
Oooo I’d be interested in a toaster oven too lol. I would be okay with either everyone keep their stuff for their use only or community use (I’d actually prefer community, but we’d have to rely on people keeping it clean and not damaging anything). I would be down for this! I mean I know it’s easier for me cuz I drive in or rent a car each time, but lugging it in and out of my place or just keeping it in my car sucks. But man do I love having a microwave to heat up my leftovers @ReTriggerMe
It was great. But I gotta admit.... in a city that's mostly sorta cynical activities... and as a person that's not often into "awwwwww" moments..... .....One of my very favorite Vegas moments/memories was, at departure time, handing my tube to a kid, and watching his face light up.
Maybe something small that doesn't involve food like an LVA coupon book could be guerilla-hidden somewhere in a lock box or gun safe like a geocache. As much as I appreciate your creativity and stretch for the finagle, I don't know how long it would stay there before it gets discovered by hotel or airport security - who would have no way to know of its harmless intent - and is removed. So it would probably need to be on a property owned by a member, and even then, would they agree to it? I don't know if I would. I personally wouldn't go to some locker to get anything that involves something that would go in my mouth, like a coffee maker or a microwave, because I wouldn't be confident that it were clean. Also it's really too heavy or bulky to carry, or it is glass and could break easily. A microwave is a pretty unusual and bulky thing to shlep around and I don't think I have heard of anyone else who travels with one, unless there is some medical need such as warming breast milk or whatever, and they can usually get one provided by the hotel. Hotels with kitchenettes, like the Vdara or a Residence Inn type place as well as timeshare resorts, probably have one there for you. For smaller/lighter items like electric water kettles, if you have a car, you can pick one up at Savers. But they are often not much cheaper than Target, and then you still need to buy ground coffee and filters. Someone here has a collapsible water kettle and I can't really see a way to optimize beyond that. @nonsatiated uses a portable Nespresso machine which fits in his luggage. Trying to finesse monopoly incidental pricing has probably been going on for decades if not centuries. On cruise ships, people used to talk about smuggling liquor onboard using reservoirs that fit into a bra, but I think those are now easily detectable by (non-human) security detectors. Personally I travel with a car, primarily so I can avoid captive-audience pricing on incidentals, and I try to stay off strip in part because I can access my car without having to walk a half mile.
After reading about the microwave, I've looked at the small, portable ovens on Amazon. Also, a while back, you mentioned reheating in plastic bags in hot water. I could use my immersion heater to boil water and reheat in bags.
