Does anyone know if it’s true you can’t touch cards at card gnaws? I’m not a blackjack player, but it seems to me that would make bj nearly impossible to play.

So how does one know what they have? Cameras? Glass? Face up only?

At BJ, a shoe game is almost always dealt face up and the players don't touch the cards. DD is dealt as a pitch game, I would estimate, more than half the time where you can touch the cards.

As for bac, there is no reg in the current situation that prohibits midi or the players from touching the cards. When I played midi at Wynn, they allowed me to touch the cards (although, just to be safe, I let the dealer turn them on all but the biggest hands). So if they are telling you that you cannot touch the cards, then that is a property decision, not a requirement

If you aren't allowed to touch cards, dealing face up only will take care of it. With current player limits at the table, all casino card games can be dealt face up and the house will still have an edge afaik barring card counting at BJ. Now if FULL tables were allowed, players' cards face-up could make some "carny games" in a player's favor.

You do touch the cards when you play Pai Gow or UTH at Aliante. I did not look at the BJ tables but I expect the cards are being dealt up at those tables..

There's a big sign in the pit telling you how much that Boyd is doing for your safety. And it includes a statement that all games are being dealt face up so you don't have to touch them. Whoops. No one informed the writer that they have games other than Blackjack in the pit..

The cocktail waitress seemed to know more about what was going on there than the pit crew.... she told me that they lay out all of the chips in the backroom each day and spray them, then turn them over & spray the other side..I don't grab chips by the top or bottom so that's doing me no good...I asked her about the edges (where most people handle them) and she gave me that look that means "what can I say, they're dumb-asses"...

I played UTH at Luxor and Bally's last month, as well as Mississippi Stud at Bally's, and was able to hold the cards.

The only place I’ve seen on the strip that doesn’t let players touch cards at the carny games is Venetian/Palazzo. Dealer flips everything over and opens the cards. Looked miserably boring for the players.

Sadly, the cards you want to see are the ones that the dealer is still hiding.

It's definitely property by property, not even by company, as I can confirm that at Cromwell you can touch the cards at their DD whereas at PH you cannot touch the cards at the DD. Both of these games are typically $25 min, so this is not a HL only matter either.

Of course neither of these properties are even open, so not sure how helpful this is currently lol.

As of Sept 12-15th, double deck at the Cortez was dealt face up. Didn't see anyone playing bacc at the high limit at either D or GG. Cosmo everything was face up. Hope this helps!

Played HCF at Golden Nugget, Ballys and Binons, I was able to hold the cards at all of them just a few weeks ago.
