Depending on your phone and its age, you can get an unlock code on eBay, mine cost me $4.15 canadian for my newer moto e 2nd gen phone, I use a koodo pay as you go plan as my main plan, but it will not work at all out of country, hence the roam plan......it has worked well for the last couple of trips

I'm glad you posted this thread. It was a reminder that I need a travel pack for the 2 trips I have planned for the US. Vegas is the second and the one I'm more looking forward to. It seems that Bell has come out with a $5/day plan like Rogers. Its unlimited talk and text (I believe) and 100 mb of data per day.

Get a travel pack for sure...cheap, and you get piece of mind so you can enjoy your trip.

For those using Roam Mobility. Do you guys always get "E" and sometimes "G" coverage while in Vegas? I'm suppose to get 4G LTE coverage with the data pack that I bought, which was 500 mbs for 7 days. But I've never gotten even close to those speeds even when I'm at the centre of the city or strip. I followed all the setup and settings correctly and I have a pretty common phone, Galaxy S3.

It can be tough to get a good signal when inside certain casinos/buildings. If I'm outside or up in the room I can generally get LTE speeds on Roam.

I also have a 702 number. My friends love (not really) the fact that they receive a text from a Las Vegas number when they don't even know I left!

I have used Roam Mobility for the past 4 trips and had no problem at all - good reception and easy to use - just swap sim card and set the arrival time and you are good to go!

See that's so weird. Did you do anything differently then what they stated to do on their instructions page? I was outside a lot too just walking around and it rarely ever went over G. I used it a lot for google maps too and it never went up to G, it was hard to drive sometimes when it took forever for me to get a good signal. In fact I got G level reception when I was mainly inside a casino like Aria.

Glad you got some utility out of it. I should have been a little more patient and waited for more replies because there were some really good ideas involving ROAM and the others I quoted above. Enjoy zipping around the country....

They usually send a text indicating how to get setup info - you text back with your phone type and update the apn settings and such. I usually follow what they said and it just works well.

When LTE first came out on Roam it wasn't working right, for like the first 2 or 3 months. But the last couple of trips its been pretty solid.

    iPhone 5.

I followed the instructions to the letter and it still didn't work well. So I requested a new number maybe next time I go back it'll work and i'll actually get LTE speeds.

There was a thing where, when it came out, I had to do a one-time upgrade to LTE and I think that gave me a new number. Maybe you have to do that.

Probably worth a call to them if it isn't delivering the speed they say.

Hmm. I purchased that one time upgrade to LTE when I first got my sim card, but I never physically changed my number through the accounts page on the roam site. I thought it would do that automatically. I just did that right now maybe that'll fix it next time hopefully.
