I know this has probably been posted a million times, but I tried quickly searching and couldn't find anything.

I got an offer for all my nights comped in August(I have never had this great of an offer.) I never stay at Caesars anymore because my go-to has been Wynn the last 4 trips. However, when you get a comped offer it changes things . I know that the Augustus Tower is the best tower, I have stayed in it in the past and loved it, but that isn't one of the choices. The options I have are Octavius and Julius. I'm curious on your thoughts? I don't mind walking necessarily, I prefer a nice view and good size room. With that said I also don't want to be so far away from the casino floor that is takes me 15 minutes to get there. I also have my Wynn offer booked too, but I won't ask anyone for their opinion on Wynn vs Caesars, even myself would pick Wynn, but Wynn isn't comped. Every trip to Vegas I deal with this problem and always end up at Wynn!lol

    Thank you!

Octavius is a no brainer. The rooms are significantly larger with bigger windows and potential for better views. While the furnishings in Octavius are circa 2010 vs Julius which was renovated a few years ago, they should still feel modern.

Octavius rooms and suites come with jetted tubs. Only Julius suites have tubs.

Octavius close to the buffet if that helps. It is where I would stay unless Julius had a great deal on a suite.

I stayed in the Julius tower a couple of years ago, and liked it. The elevators are pretty much right in the middle of the casino, and they were always quick, and never crowded (I hate waiting on elevators). I believe the rooms had been renovated fairly recently at that time, and I found them to be fine (solo traveler). The view can be a problem, however. I had a room facing the strip, but, I was directly behind the NOBU hotel, so I had a very nice view of the backside of the Nobu hotel...and nothing else. Not too big of a deal to me, but I know others would be disappointed.

That was my only stay at Caesars Palace, so I don't have any experience with any other rooms.

Let us know what you think after you stay. I am comped at both but have never stayed at Cesar's.

As said above, the Julius elevators drop you right in the casino but the Octavius is by far the better room. Views will also likely be much better from Octavius.

Now I know some people may start up about the grueling trek to get to the strip from an Octo room but having heard this endlessly over the years, I timed it last year. If you have no mobility issues, it's really not so bad. I timed my walk from the ground floor of the Octavius Tower to the front door or the Linq. It was either 7 minutes or 9 minutes walking over the Cromwell bridge. If you did have mobility issues, you might want to try Julius Tower.

I wonder how hard it would be to get an Augustus upgrade day of? $20 sandwich maybe?

Vegas is half full. No need to make a sandwich for Check In. I have always felt the sandwich creates an unnecessary and potentially uncomfortable situation. Hold a $20 in your hand or flat out tell em "$20 if you can get me in Augustus". They can or they can't. And if they can't, you won't have to be faced with the uncomfortable dilemma of wondering if you should ask for your $20 back from them. Just food for thought. Regardless, I really like your chance of getting Augusts/Octavius. And would also be interested in your results afterwards no matter how you approach it.

This is a good example of what I would have said. 100 extra sq ft, jetted tub, location is close to the Flamingo side exit for quick trip to Bellagio, Cosmo, etc...

If you're comped in Octavius it will usually be done for the asking, and sometimes without asking, unless they're pretty full. I've never actually stayed in Octavius because I've been moved to an Augustus fountain view 100% of the time. I usually tip them but have never done the sandwich thing anywhere, ever. The one exception might be if you are gold or platinum level player. The diamond checkin has much more leeway in room booking at Caesars than the front desk does.

Also, as far as rooms, Octavius is a little bit smaller Augustus room (larger than Palace and much larger than Julius). Identical layout except the bathroom is configured like Palace tower which I prefer, where the shower and jetted tub are on opposite sides. I dont like the way the tub and shower are connected in the August room because it obstructs the tub with the bathroom counter.

    Good explanation by MCann.

I have never been denied an upgrade albeit that I never stayed there on dates such as the top 3 major holidays that Vegas gets the most traffic.

Always get upgrade of dealers choice from Augustus Bellagio Fountain room and Palace Studio Suite. If I simply ask for a comp upgrade at check in from any lower tier room booked I will always get one of the two above mentioned rooms. This is at Diamond check in however so YMMV at regular check in.

I am going to try getting an upgrade to a new room that I haven't stayed in on Friday because I want to test the new lower capacity limits and the fact that all towers minus nobu are open.
