I will first get on the WAX and pay my $2 to get to Tropicana.
Then I need to switch to the 201.... what kind of pass do I need for that?

I plan to spend a good portion of the day at Orleans, hope to get on their radar.

    Thanks, bus folks!

It shows a day pass for $8, which includes all Strip and residential (like the 201) buses. They also show a "reduced fare" rate - not sure if that's Senior or ??.

Anyway, if you're returning the reverse route, it might be easier/cheaper to buy the day pass.

Non-Strip buses are $2 ea way or $5 for 24 hours. The $8 for 24 hrs covers SDX and Deuce

More convenient and time-saving way is cross over to MGM, taxi it over. Better than walking over to NYNY and waiting.

You could bus to the high roller then take the free shuttle to the orleans, couldn't you?

In that way it takes longer (wait and walk) and cost more.
WAX+201 is the best way if you don't want to Lyft/Uber.

If you want to take a free trip and you have the time you could try the shuttles

At the California, Fremont and Main Street Station, the Sam’s Town complimentary shuttle provides a full schedule of service to Sam’s Town-Boulder Strip and from Sam’s Town to the Las Vegas Strip. (Seating is limited. Early boarding is recommended).
The Sam's Town shuttle picks up and drops off daily at the California Hotel & Casino on 1st Street located outside of the valet entrance and at the Fremont Hotel & Casino Valet on Casino Center. For complete information, check at the bell desk for shuttles and schedules

Last time I took the Sam's shuttle it stops at Orleans and Gold Coast. Sam's Town Hotel & Gambling Hall offers shuttle service to its sister properties, Fremont Hotel & Casino and California Hotel & Casino, as well as the Las Vegas strip. The shuttle operates seven days a week starting at 9:00am and hotel guests will receive priority seating on all shuttles.

    Just something to check into.

Samstown bus is a full sized showtime bus and has plenty of seats. From downtown at Fremont or Cal drops off Samstown. Another showtime bus goes from there to Harrahs. The Orleans and GC shuttle(smaller bus) picks up and drops off at the High Roller. So you would have to walk from back of Harrahs to high roller. Rio shuttle runs from Harrahs.

I have been on that shuttle to Sam'sTown.... very convenient.

Using the WAX & 201 with an all day pass seems to be a good way to go. I think I know where the bus stops are from Google maps. $8 round trip sounds like a deal.

I have often used the WAX from the airport to Fremont, so I am familiar with how they operate.... clean & efficient!

I am still open to other opinions. Thanks.

We use the buses a lot, and I would go with WAX/201 too.

I have done the WAX/201 and found it easy. The 201 drops you off at the edge of the parking lot for the Orleans. I think for $3 you can get a transfer that will get you on the second bus by sliding your bus ticket. Just do that in reverse on the way back. So $6 total.

I've gone to the Orleans by using the Boyd shuttles. Like mentioned earlier, I would take the Sam's Town shuttle from Downtown to Sams, then hop on the other shuttle that goes to Harrahs. Then I walk to the Linq high roller and catch the Orleans shuttle.

It's kinda time consuming and you do have to walk a bit but minus a tip to the drivers, it's free. I do this when I want a break at the tables and don't mind the extra time between shuttles.

If you study the shuttle times on the booklet (available at the bell desk) you will notice that when the ST bus from Downtown arrives at ST, a couple of minutes later the other ST bus to Harrahs will leave. These buses are on separate loops so you will have to depart one bus then hop on the other.

EDIT: I read this wrong, thought it was coming from the airport. NEVERMIND.
