Made two bets yesterday at the Circa books:
Rory McIlory 9-1
Matt Kuchar 50-1
Thanks for the post Don.. Last 5 majors for me has been--- OPEN (Molinari +$405) PGA (no bet) MASTERS (Tiger +$66) PGA (no bet) US OPEN (Woodland +$810).... Just tooting my own horn.
Placed these bets awhile ago @ Westgate/Orleans. Thought "Beef" Johnston wasn't going to make the field until his incredible day today.
Thorbjorn Olesen 5 pays 130 and 10 pays 610
Ian Poulter 10 pays 610
Thomas Pieters 10 pays 810
Eddie Pepperell 5 pays 155
Mathew Fitzpatrick 5 pays 105 and 10 pays 760
Brent Snedeker 5 pays 105
Andrew Johnston 5 pays 505
Have a great week everyone----Jeff
Looks like Rory has a major uphill climb after his round today.....will he even make the cut?
I'm burning up the DVR capacity with the Open and Stage 12 largely overlapping.
Same for Tiger. I had a feeling he would struggle and he truly is. Might be lucking to make the cut also.
Not looking good for Rory or Tiger. Tiger looks to be hurting a bit. Phil is also in dead man's land.
What Tiger did in April was stupendous. The overreaction to it was far more stupendous.
Z Johnson +9300
Love Koepka's game....not just because he went to my Alma Mater , FSU. He is fundamentally sound, and he doesn't let adversity impact his play.
Bet Koepka in every major. Don't bet Koepka in regular tour events.
Was stunned to find him +800, still no respect....shouldn't he be +300/400 given his recent run...
I'm also stunned by the lack of respect he gets. He is a machine in the Majors.
It's a terrible feeling when a guy you bet on triple bogeys or worse the first hole. I didn't even have my breakfast yet and Rory was already out of it.
David Duval +20 on the first day,I would gladly play him for £50.
You would lose if you played on those course conditions right now. Maybe you are counting on him putting another 14 on the card but I wouldn't.
He really is a phenomenon in that regard. Greats like Nicklaus and Woods would talk about gearing their games to peak at the Majors but they also were dominant in regular tour events and won a lot of them.
Tiger - 81
Jack - 73
Koepka - 6 (though 2/3 are biggies and of course he ain't done yet)
Love all the gunning and running now, but the GC announcers and other fawners don't really get it: Snead, Tiger, Jack, Hogan, Palmer, Nelson, Casper, Hagen ... hell, Phil has 44 wins and it only ranks him 9th. Long way down to anyone fully active on the PGA Tour to find the next "greatest" current player, which is DJ with 20. (I think VJ did an amazing thing, and notably later in his career, amassing 34. He might not stay #14 on the list, but he should remain a top 20 winner pretty much until the PGA Tour disappears.)
No, the best golf overall has not been played in the Tiger Era.
OK, shhhhhh, again. I'm DVRing the Open and Tour.
I couldn't take him in my pool because I did so for the PGA, but I'd love to see Koepka nail this one, too. Love his style and demeanor.
Yes I know,I would have virtually no chance of beating him,It would be a great experience to go round the course with any tour professional though.
I love the golf channel, their commentators/analysts and coverage. My two favorite events are The Open and The Masters. I also enjoy the drama that the second round brings, and watching players on the cut line.
