    My Trip Report

Smooth Friday morning flight out of SAT, landed and met up with friends who flew out from Austin. Did a quick coupon run to Hooters, the Orleans, and Gold Coast, basically breaking even. Lost most of my match plays but turned the free play coupons into their face value across the board. That pattern held true for my match plays downtown as well, I won 2 out of 7.
Friday afternoon I dropped my friends off at Bally's and headed down to the South Point for my first night, checking in at 1 p.m. when I arrived.
After dropping off the bag in the room, I headed for the triple play JoB bank. Starting at quarters, my first hand was this:

Okay, strict rules of parlay says its time to move to .50. About 30 minutes later:

I took that hit and moved over to the NSUD over by the cashier. Played for another half hour or so at the .50 cent level and was basically treading water. Then this happened:

Allrightythen, time to take a break and go play in a poker tournament at Ballys with my friends. Apparently my VP luck is much better than my live poker luck. That was a big waste of time and money. Afterward I headed back down to South Point for the evening. Played a little more .50 cent JoB 3 play, pretty much staying even for an hour. Racking up points like crazy though, which is great. Moved over to the NSUD bank again by the cashier, but the machine from earlier was occupied, so I took the one directly opposite of it. Played for about 30 minutes with a few wild royals and 5oaKs to keep me afloat. Then the machine started slowing grinding down my $200 buy-in. I was down to my last 30 bucks, when WOOHOO, there's another bankroll injection!

Happily I played on for a while (5 minutes or so in fact), when out of nowhere:

I pretty much wrapped it up after that. Sacrificed $100 to a $5 slot with no love, but hey, can't argue with this haul for the day:

Basically I finished the day up about $4300 bucks. I happily took 4K to the local Wells Fargo branch the next morning and put it safely out of my reach!

Saturday morning I moved down to the D, and spent the next 3 nights there. Played quite a bit of JoB at the 4 Queens and Bonus next door at the Vue and the progressive bank next to the Keno at the D. Mostly uneventful Saturday - Monday. I ended up ahead $3500 on the trip overall, so a highly successful one for sure. I will be back to the South Point in June for the national bowling tournament. Hoping to sneak in another trip in January or February for a slot or video poker tournament.

    A few brief closing thoughts:
Magnolias and Chicago Brewing Company are excellent
The D Grill is more than adequate
Every October we schedule a golf outing, and the weather is perfect every day of the trip except the day we have our tee time. This year continued that tradition as we played in upper 40 degree temps with 20 to 30 mph winds. Go figure.
Trip after trip, Dollar Rental Car continues to hit the mark. Express is the way to go, straight to the car!
The rooms at the South Point and D are right in my wheel house. The 4 Queens rooms I am not as fond of. They are just too loud and the a/c units are not quite able to keep it as cool as I would prefer.

Thanks for reading and good luck everyone!

Wow what a great trip! 2 royals holy hell and up 3500 for the trip:beer:

As I've mentioned before seems like the VP at SP is fair to the gambler. I'm sure theres plenty of people on this forum who disagree but that's my experience

One other funny thing that happened. The group of us each chip in $100 each and one guy brings some from family members from back home, and we play in the Harrah's high limit room once per trip. This time we played for a good hour and a half on our $1000 buy-in, and finally ground down to $5 remaining. 1 credit on the $5 Wheel Of Fortune machine, and it was my turn to spin. So I went ahead and pulled another $5 out of my wallet so we could play 2 credits. Surprise, we hit a spin for $250, back in the game! 5 spins later, another guy hits a spin for another $200 or so, then the next guy spins and gets the wheel spin and hits the top prize of $1195. Went from $5 bucks to $1500 in a span of about 90 seconds. That was pretty sweet. We cashed out our $500 profit, so everyone came out a little ahead.
