Do you book your flights last minute (after you confirm your hotel) or first (before you decide where you will stay)?
Hotel first. Flights are easy to book and I usually rebook the flight several times before my trip, to get better prices or times.
I choose dates. Then book hotel. Try to book flight on the same day, but I prefer to secure a place to stay first. I also know people who prefer to book flights first, then hotel. No right or wrong way of doing things. It's whatever one's comfort level is
Both. Usually I try to coordinate, flip back & forth between SWA and hotel booking sites. I will note that when I book flight first, I always go. There have been a few times I book a good deal on a room, keep watching and waiting on flights. Textbook procrastination; I watch fares get worse. Cancel hotel. E,g. I'm booked in a Wynn Executive Tower Suite over Christmas. Booked because my host acknowledged the suite was at a very low comp cost - usually the bigger TS rooms are too much to cover. Never bought flights. And of course, even during sales, that's such a busy week, flights are only getting more expensive. I'll probably cancel trip.
Hotel then flight. Hotels don't move about that much, but aircraft are weaselly little things. But, it's always gonna be points via Southwest, so it's not the fare, it's the duration and changing planes.
Pretty much same time. I do look at room rates to get an idea of how busy things are. We are always comped, but chances of suite rise if not too busy. Flights are often booked before I hear back for host, if using one. Flights are usually with points, so I can book, move around and change easy. Again, if flight prices are high, that may change my dates. FYI - most airlines allow free cancel within 24 hours, even with refundable cash tickets, so that helps.
Vegas will always have rooms and since mine are comped with CET, I don't worry about something I need for some sleep and a shower. The prices of flights determines when I go.
Usually within a few days of each other regardless, if not same day but almost always flights first, then hotel. I always fly Southwest so I can just cancel for a credit and rebook if hotels are super pricey. But I usually spend some time looking back and forth at airline/hotel rate calendars and just pick something that works all at once.
Almost always hotel first. Our dates are determined by a yearly event so I usually book hotel first before airline schedule is out. I usually book a few extra days on my hotel so I have some wiggle room that I can play with around flight schedule.
Same time. For Las Vegas I almost always book a package through Allegiant. They are the only direct flight from my airport, and I don't gamble enough to get comped. Allegiant has some great air and hotel deals if you catch them. Few days ago I could've gotten a Palace premium studio at CP with flight for four nights in May for under $800. That's everything but resort fee. Weekday of course. I said let me think about it a day or two and when I went back it was gone.
I book the win first. Then I book the disappointment. Hotel first. I maintain only two loyalty programs, so i need to know that my room is available first before i commit to a flight which can be changed. Flights are more flexible and don't need to be done first. They can be, to lock in a promo or sale. The gist of the OP is which is harder to change. Room, definitely room first.
I have sometimes not booked my hotel until I'm sitting in the airport. I get comped rooms at MGM properties, but generally not suites and location matters more than room quality for me.
Always the flight, can always find a comp or cheap room somewhere but flights option are very limited so when i find my price/date i pull the trigger and then look for a room
I booked a flight first since all the hotels offer comp rooms to me. It’s nice being able just to go when you want to go. No I’m not a big enough whale for a private jet so I watch the air fares
Flights first! The pricing varies so much on the days flying. Hotel rooms always comped so I work hotel reservations around the flight schedule.
Usually flights first. We always fly SW to LAS. Where we stay (South Point or The Cal downtown) I can usually get some or all backend comps for rooms.
