Only time I stayed there we established that he could comp me a decent bourbon, so I had a shot and a beer back. Tipped him two bucks, played, ordered it a second time. Tipped him two bucks. Third time I ordered the shot the beer didn’t show up. When I asked him about the beer back he looks at me and says “that’s a seven dollar shot!” Confusing beyond belief, I’ll never stay there again.

I am headed down Wednesday, and pleased that I decided to try the California for the first time. I was still planning on playing VP at the Boar's Head because I love it so I am disappointed. I've never put in more than a few minutes at the bar in the Cal as it doesn't have much of a vibe. But chasing progressives at Mike's Bar will soften the blow, I guess.

Mostly the 9/6 JoB and their own craft beer. 9/7/5 DB (99.11%) is also available for more "gambling types".

In your case, I would try 4 Queens and their own craft beer while playing 40/10/6 DDB (99.96%) at the 50c-$1 level.

That is heartbreaking :( It's been 2 years since I stayed Downtown and I will finally be there tomorrow. I don't believe I will even set foot inside MSS.

Yesterday they thought a week. Apparently 3 weeks ago they thought the same thing. Employees I interacted with were less than complimentary about the engineering personnel or Boyd’s willingness to spend a dime. If each machine ONLy retains 1000$ a day and 6 have been closed 3 weeks and 16 - 17 are closed 5 days you would think expediency would be a consideration. Not sure who is running quality control but never saw much oversight since last Wednesday.

This is making me very nervous! Our trip is 10 days away and while we will be spending the first 3 nights off strip, we check into MSS on the 16th. I will not be happy if the Boar's Head bar is not up and running by then! If anyone has any updates (especially ones with good news), please keep us posted!!

Will be arriving tomorrow night for a three night stay and was planning on playing JOB at the bar most of the time. I hope there are more machines on the floor and at the California.

If you play quarters you can find 9/6 JoB on the floor. Check vpfree2. Just don't play to bank over by the valet entrance, it takes $3 coin-in to get one point.

    Hello all,
    First post from me.

I was sitting at the machine closest to the buffet entrance when the bar was closed at 11:00 pm Sunday night (April 1).
The fingers crossed estimate for work completion is 2 weeks.
I doubt this since no one was working on the repairs when I left for the airport Monday at noon.
All the drain lines need to be replaced under the entire length of the bar which involves floor removal, make the repairs, replace the floor.

    Long time lurker from Houston.

Thanks for the update and Welcome to the site.
That scope of work could easily be completed in a week if the pipes are not under the actual bar itself.
They may have just been waiting for the weekend crowd to die down before they started jackhammering the concrete assuming said pipes are in the foundation.
I’d have to imagine that Tuesday and Wednesday are the slowest days and best for demo noise.

So Boars Head bar will be totally closed until this problem is fixed? (or is part of it open?)

Rick, you show amazing restraint! Almost 5 years on the board and your first post!!
I am going to be very disappointed when we arrive on the 13th and the bar is not open.

Thanks for answering. Hopefully they are doing some meaningful work to fix the problem,
