Agree on the food refresh. Not a fan of the selections.

Different strokes; some of my favourites are at Cosmo.

As I sit on my Cosmopolitan terrace, enjoying the view of the Bellagio sign, I'm pondering....

I still maintain it's very early to worry about the details of this sale.... I must try not to be apprehensive. Then it occurs to me
    ...
This is why we shouldn't hoard spendable points.

As of this morning, I have $1350.00 in spendable points at Cosmo. (And some at MLife) My rooms are free, my food gets comp'd. I'm not a spa guy. Point play seems like conceding, giving it back. So I've just let them accumulate thinking.... maybe someday I'll buy some European suit in a shop, a piece of art, or some other item I'd never buy. Or bring my Henderson family in for a great dining experience.

Now I'm wondering.. even though details of the sale are many months in the future, maybe I should find a way to start spending those points.

Think of those points like they were a new car. The older they get, the more likely they will lessen in value... or devalue completely. Especially the ones at CET as I've known too many folks who had points used/stolen when they weren't even in Vegas.

I used mine up at Cosmo last year as had cut play there due to limited locations. Though I'll definitely visit if/when merged with Mlife.

I predict "fountain view" rooms will become "Bellagio fountain view" rooms.

Planning on going to Vegas around the end FEB 2022.
Do you think the completion of the Cosmo by MGM/Mlife will be complete before or by then?
Would love to see some offers for the Cosmo from my Mlife

Maybe the sale will be complete, but it all depends on how compatible the systems are for the player's club software. If they aren't compatible, it could take 3-6 months to bring Cosmo online with mLife.

    No.

Perhaps I'm over-estimating. Deals rarely close at the time originally forecast. I'd guess second quarter.

If airline frequent flyer programs any indication, it could take months to figure out what they're going to do. And I'd be surprised if there's not a lengthy transition period.

I think there are basically three machines at the Cosmo high limit room that will pay out >99% at the $1 level. Maybe the rest of the machines are inferior to what you find at MGM, but these machines are better.

I’m not sure about host comps from either set properties. I don’t play enough to get a host. My only claim is with respect to the players club tiers. It is relatively easy to get Gold tier as Cosmo through VP, and the perks of this are much better than the perks of the equivalent gold mlife tier; and my impression is that this is also true at other tier pairs.

Genuine question (not trying to be argumentative here) but you mention a total of 3 machines that have better payouts than MGM. Is this better than the "standard" MGM, or have you actually scouted out all of the MGM machines?

My previous trip I stayed at Cosmo followed by MGM, both on comped offers. My upcoming trip will be the same.
I can’t do that with two Mlife properties. For that reason alone I’m not looking forward to Cosmo being Mlife-ified.

This is my exact predicament. Ever since I started doing Cosmo I have stayed at either Bellagio or Aria also as part of my stats along with Wynncore. We go on longer trips and like to change hotels every 3-5 days. This will make things more difficult for me to stay where I want when I want to. Also, with the huge MLife players club I fear Cosmo comps will be tougher to come by.

Adding a couple days to the trip.

I originally matched to Gold, but had Pearl before that and I've since earned Gold based on play. What I'm saying is that despite that, my Cosmo offers are better than what I get offered at MGM. I'm not saying my MGM offers are bad (I get "comped" any night at their lower-mid properties and weekdays at their higher end), I'm just saying that Cosmo's are better. The no resort fees at Cosmo is a big deal and the rooms are superior.

Some interesting gossip from Cosmopolitan employees this trip.

Several employees have commented that if the Mirage sale doesn't happen, the Cosmopolitan-MGM sale might be prevented.

And one employee told me that there's a challenge from another entity that submitted a bid to buy Cosmo... I can't recall name of bidder..

I have no idea if these statements reflect realistic concerns. Just sharing what Cosmopolitan employees are saying.

Yet everyone keeps fretting about Mlife taking over and replacing Identity as though it has already happened. Nothing has changed. Nothing will change until the deal closes -- IF the deal even closes at all. It's totally plausible that it's not a slam dunk deal.

I'm fretting, intermittently. I remind myself not to worry, things take time - alot of time - and the deal, might not happen

It's human nature to anticipate and wonder. My current Cosmopolitan status, perks, etc.... status and perks I believe to be easier to achieve than other programs....are a very important element of my Vegas passion. I only rediscovered LV in recent years, and Cosmo even more recently.

Too early for absolute proclamations. But if the deal goes through, and IF it becomes more difficult to secure Cosmopolitan rooms and IF I lose perks such as airport transport, and other Identity benefits, LV will decline on my list of how I spend leisure time.

That's a lot of "what-iffing" I think about such hypothetical when on VMB, sometimes. I'm not walking around wondering and worrying in my activities of daily living.

Obviously nothing is done until the deal closes and operation changes hands, but the deal isn’t announced without MGM putting down a significant earnest payment. Obviously they’ll back out and lose the money if closing becomes a financial impossibility because of other assumed transactions not proceeding as planned, but they’ve likely got significant motivation to see things through otherwise.

Especially because there are weird things hidden around the floor. I usually play $1 JoB at Aria, which I'm used to being 8/5. The other day I was wandering around looking for a free single-line non-progressive machine (weirdly hard to find on that floor if you're just wandering!), and sat down at one that turned out to be 9/5. I haven't seen that at Aria in years.
I like the restaurants at Cosmo, but I'm expecting a restructuring of what's there. Not so much because of the quality of the food, but nearly every single restaurant is a transplant from somewhere else.
If these are line-level employees, then I'd take it with two of the largest grains of salt you can find. These things are all certainly possible, but the guy working at Chandelier doesn't have access to that sort of back-end information; even corporate employees pretty high up on the ladder wouldn't know. That said, if you can start to put a pattern together from what they say, it might have legs. And either way, it's fun to speculate about this!

When I was there over Thanksgiving I heard the same thing from various employees. Still a long way to go will be interesting how it all shakes out.
