From casino to casino, Is there a difference in quality of and type of drinks you can order when playing slots or vp? When I play downtown or off strip, I generally stick to beer since most well drinks waitresses bring you are pretty mediocre. Is it better on the strip?

Definitely a difference, though a lot of it depends if you're playing on the floor versus a VP bar, and whether you're tipping well, and whether you've got a player's card, etc, etc. Many variables. Some of the standouts for me:
    • We spent hours at the video poker bar closest to the lobby at Bellagio and had any cocktail you could name, in absurd quantities, all night. Of course, we probably tipped at least $100-$150 during that time, conversed quite a bit with the bartender(s), and were friendly.
    • Caesars properties have weird comp rules. I'm Diamond there and couldn't get a comped Titos and Red Bull, but could get comped Ketel One or Grey Goose and Red Bull just fine. Maybe something about sponsorship? I found it odd.
    • Wynn doesn't comp at its video poker bars (though I believe there's one exception).
    • Some properties work on a ticket system at the bar, where you get a ticket based on how long you play (Cosmopolitan); some say they use your base points (I was told at Park MGM that every 10 base points I was eligible for a drink, but I don't see how they could possibly track that, and I can confirm that earning 100 base points doesn't mean they will give you ten shots); most Caesars properties are using the red light green light system which tracks coin-in and speed, though many of them I spoke with just said that as long as I'm playing $1/hand minimum with consistency they didn't really care.
Some properties have switched to a smaller pour (I want to say Linq and PH? Someone here can correct me, maybe they reversed that decision) but it's not like they have a sign announcing it, so if your mixed drink sucks, either move on or switch to beer.

Caesars has pulled back on quality booze and pours big time. The only way to get a decent comped drink is through the Diamond/ 7 Star vouchers.

I haven't made Diamond Plus yet so I don't know about the vouchers, but I didn't have a problem getting any quantity of drinks last trip (few weeks ago) with consistency at any of their properties. Even some of the nicer lounges with video poker bars were fairly (surprisingly) lenient. But I was also ordering well drinks for the most part. If I want something fancy comped I'll go to Cosmopolitan where they have no problem grabbing the Chartreuse and Cointreau, two things I'm not sure Caesars knows exist :)

Cosmo best bet. Wynn close 2nd. Or high limit rooms at Mlife property.

they were comping Titos and vodka at the Cromwell VP bar for me earlier this month with Diamond. It's definitely not comparable to Cosmo, though.

Does Cosmo still do first drinks (specifically the Verbena) comped at Chandelier VP bar, or is that entirely ticket-based now?

Are you able to use vouchers with the CW on the floor or it has to be at a bar?

I would be terrified to use these on the floor, personally. You're playing roulette that the waitress doesn't take them and give you a rotgut pour anyway

Not sure if the Verbena counts (I've read it costs more than one drink ticket) but Cosmo still does first drink free when you insert $20 in the bartop VP machines at Chandelier and Sportsbook

My philosophy too. Also, they are allowed to swap out your call liquor for whatever they want - although Suncoast is the only one to actually admit they do it.

I agree, Cosmo has my favorite floor drinks, hands-down. Quality of the resort matters too, as the floor drinks at Excal and Luxor (for example) taste extremely watered down.

In my experience it depends on the bartender. I had one tell me that he couldn't comp a Verbena and then we got them comped 3 other times. Luck of the draw I guess.....See what I did there?

are you now getting real glassware on the strip? I would rather drink well in a real glass compared to top shelf in a little plastic Yahtzee shaker.

They will do your first drink free when you are playing with $20 in the machine. Anything over $16 is YMMV for that first drink. After that, you start getting drink tickets. Drink tickets you can use multiple to get more expensive items like the verbena.

Someone did a TR here recently testing out the timing (sorry I forgot who’s TR it was). I decided to also try out this theory.

Playing regularly, the first ticket would come out after 10 min, 2nd drink ticket after 15min, after that it’s longer. When you take out your card and money, it resets the clock back to the 10min.

That’s how I ended up with so many drink tickets when I saw @luck.ofthe.draw and @MikeOPensacola

Cosmo was appropriate glassware at the VP bars (martini glass, wine glass, etc)

Bellagio on the floor I got a plastic cup for a mimosa

Excalibur used a glass (really small) at a BJ table

Wynn used a stemless wine glass for a mimosa

Cosmo 1st floor Chandelier is best VP drinking bar IMO. I routinely get comped Belvedere with no questions asked. That's a ~$18-20 shot if ordering it non-comped elsewhere on property. Personable bartenders, clientele generally aren't the usual speechless VP bar grinders, you can have a conversation. Tickets are plentiful enough that I regularly have to give them away. One of my morning haunts on every trip.

What level of coin are you playing at that bar? $1? 25c?

They have 25 cent denom games but I think the better paytable start at $1.
Only once we were told to play minimum $1 there to start, but they don't check regularly.

I think it is 20 or 40 points per drink ticket roughly...thinking 40, and no more than 3 or 4 per hour.
