Anytime I can find a table I like.
I guess by “reliable” I mean that I end up enjoying the session and walking away with money.
I like the quiet of the morning because I feel that more “serious” players play at that time and you don’t get the crazy drunken crowd that appears later in the day. Not to say that I haven’t been inclined to have a coffee with Bailey’s at the table at 9AM...
I also like having a little space at the table and not being so crowded. I typically play several sessions throughout the day but always seem to enjoy playing in the mornings.
As to my screen-name: “HornHighCraps...” I fully understand the table odds and I’m not one to bet prop bets each roll. But many years ago my friends started calling me HornHigh at the table because I could seemingly predict when a Horn bet would be rolled. Whenever I would throw that bet out there it would seem to hit. I realize that that was purely luck and I assure you that I have no way to predict the roll of the dice. But the name still stuck...
Before covid I liked to play craps after midnight. the tables were too busy in the evening - I don't like the crowds.
Unfortunately with covid many crap tables are closed. The table at the Cal closes by midnight if not earlier. Other tables are open but I mostly get the comps from the Boyd properties. Fremont is okay but with covid not as much fun as before. Especially with $10 minimum tables.
Not unusual for me to be in the casino by 6-6:30 am first couple days in Vegas.
I play a couple hours a day before 9 if the are being nice.
The last of the club crowd is ordering their last cocktail at the table and I get coffee.
Sometimes it's very entertaining.
Best sessions have probably been late afternoon to before dinner.
I love texting my wife or friends that I'll be late because of a big hand being tossed.
For me, whatever has has the stick left spot open at whatever minimum I’m comfortable with. I’ll figure out real quick if that was a smart move or not.
But lately, I’m liking the mornings. Just a couple of chill people playing craps can be a wonderful thing. For me, the more full the craps table is lately, the more the dice are cold for some strange reason. I’d love to play on a “fuller” table with some hot streaks. Nothing more fun than a craps table with full racks!
This is usually hard to find in the morning, seems like you’re more likely to see full racks with the more they drink! Oh, sorry, you were talking chips. Yeah, a game seems to be more fun when people are winning.
I like to be stick left as well (SL spots 1-3 are my favorite on the table). Being able to play casually without the chaos of late bets or just random nonsense is nice. Not to mention with a laid back game you can have a friendly conversation with dealers and pit crew without taking away from the game speed.
Lot of stick-left players here. I'm also stick left up to the hook. Don't like being further than that, although some of my best sessions have been when I've been stuck down on the end.
One of the last trips I took to Tunica, I could only get SR. It felt off to me throwing in a different motion, but I still did alright.
Now if I’m on a table we go back to allowing players (at some point) wherever they can find a spot, I can handle playing between @FuzzyDiceCraps and @Jer since they will most likely be playing higher denom chips and maybe I can have the dealer slide a few of their winning bets my way!
I generally like stick left 1. Although recently I’ve tried stick right 1 and although it is a different motion, I seemed to do pretty well. In the future, as long as I can get close to the stick, I would be ok...
My only problem that I had was keeping up with the placement of my bets. On SL I was so used to where they sit in the box that when I went to SR I would sometimes forget which ones were mine.
For the most part, I like mornings for comfort and evenings for fun. That's just a rule of thumb though. It'll vary from casino to casino on any given day.
ANYTIME you get the itch....
What are you considering "early morning"????
For me, the best time to play is when I can find an empty table.
What I have seen 3am to 8am Vegas time is early morning and the tables tend to be surprisingly packed at that time and not a good time for me.
For me, “early morning” means between 8AM and noon.
My favorite time is in the "morning"... AKA whenever I happen to wake up, get caffeinated and get down to the casino. I call it Morning Mimosa Craps. The vibe is chill, the limits are low, and tables aren't super crowded with drunks... AKA me later in the evening.
Immediately before 20 or 30 hardways are thrown.
