Hmmm, where's that graph of mine?

    info.png

That's roughly relative position of all the steakhouses I've personally eaten at in Vegas. Triple George and up I would gladly dine at again.

Worth noting I do about a trip a year, so these experiences stretch back to 2007

Delmonico is the one place I've always wanted to eat, but as of yet haven't made it to. Not sure how, as I've probably stayed at the Palazzo for around a month, and just never made it any further than Cut when wandering somewhere for dinner.

We thought that the first time we ate there, as it was quite late in the evening. However, the others were both before 8pm. It's a very good restaurant, but just a case of preferences, and if you're paying top prices, you definitely don't want to be settling for somewhere that you just enjoy.

You'll be fine in Jeans & Polo at 99% of places.

My boss' boss asked me for some recommendations a few weeks ago when he was going to Vegas for the first time in many years. I mentioned the Cut of Week special at Charlie Palmer. It was he and his wife and 2 other couples, these are corner office executive types so I was nervous about recommending anything.

They LOVED Charlie Palmer. Said the food was outstanding, service exceptional, and the special including wine for under $60 per person is hard to beat. I also sent them to Skyfall lounge which they loved too.

Has anyone used this? They don’t give prices on the mgm website and I’m not sure we’d spend $125 on food alone? Is alcohol included?

Steaks are $40-$50 and by the time you add sides or an appitizer then I imagine the $125 adds up rather fast!

If you ever see the tasting menu offered at CUT, go for it. We got to try Japanese Wagyu, American Wagyu and American Rib-eye side-by-side-by-side*.

Another little trick if you want to avoid crowds is eat at Lakeside Grill instead of SW. Same meat, same prep, (same prices) but usually fewer people. It also gives your party the option of excellent seafood if someone isn't jonesing for a rib-eye.

    * - The American Rib-eye won in a walk. ;)

Ardee is right on, and I add my vote for Lakeside. I love seafood, but Mrs. Johnny does not. She gets her very excellent steak (there are six steaks on the menu-she likes the 18 oz charred ribeye) and I get seafood. Since she can never eat it all, I wind up with a very superior surf and turf. Lakeside is not a steakhouse, but the steaks are the same as at SW, the room is beautiful and the service is smooth and never snooty. I also like that they have my beloved Grgich Hills Cabernet on the wine list-not usually a wine choice in Vegas.

Listen to ardee’s Good advice. You would not be sorry. I’ll be joyful at Lakeside in a couple of weeks.

Not being a dick, but need some clarification, d (or hubs?): You've highlighted two breeds and one cut. What cuts were the two wagyus and what breed was the ribeye? Thanks.

Was hubs. Let me go get him to clarify...

Hubs for the clarity: All the cuts were rib-eye. CUT doesn't specify what breed the American beef is, just "USDA PRIME, Nebraska Grass Fed, Dry Aged 35 Days." This was a couple of years ago, so I am going from memory and the current menu. In any case, we thought the Japanese sample was the least appealing and tasty.

    Thanks for the clarification.

We have friends who raise Angus/Limousin crossers. Amazing meat.

The family who bought our old family homestead back in Kansas raise Limousin. Amazing the connections you find.

How would I find out if I have any comps to go towards my bill? I get mailers all the time for 4 free nights at Venetian/Palazzo from gaming there but we aren't staying there this time around

We were very underwhelmed with Carnevino.......didn't enjoy the steak as much as the other places and the service was terrible.
