Sorry if this is been answered elsewhere, couldnt find it.. But where is the best place to practice VP online or on an App? Years ago I downloaded winpoker. I did again recently but its comically outdated (thought still very useful). Most of the online sites and phone apps i've seen are basically spam. What do you all use? thanks.

Wizard of Vegas has a nice selection of VP trainers, however they're not very mobile friendly. If you want free apps for mobile I've found several trainers which are nice in the Play Store (one for Double bonus and another for JoB). Just search of your choice of game such as "Jacks or Better trainer" and I've found all sorts of trainers for free.

WinPoker comically outdated? What, did the fundamentals of math change recently? :)

WinPoker may be ugly, but it's still the best. And I love the fact I can actually enter the paytable of whatever I'm playing right there and look up difficult hands if I want. (Cue the "but that's technically illegal and you can be arrested" crowd...please, that's never gonna happen.)

If you have an iPhone, WinPoker is solid I've heard. There really isn't a great app for Android, afaik.

And it is technically illegal in the casino @remmerde. :p. But yeah, I've never heard anyone get in trouble for using it. I'll use the wizard's hand analyzer on close calls/unfamiliar strategies.

I use https://www.freeslots.com/poker.htm It has a trainer and you can change to a variety of games. I play it for a bit nearly every day.

There are a few issues I've found. For instance every once in a while it will tell you to hold a QT suited in a certain game when there is nothing to go with it and others it will tell you to just hold the Q and often if you have two pair and draw. the fifth card you throw away will come up as the same card different suit. This seems to happen way too often to be chance...but beyond that its very good and for training purposes it really doesnt matter. Just remember to change your payout from 2x to 1x for a more realistic play. Though I guess that is useful as you can build a balance up quickly to allow you to play how you want. It works well enough that I havent considered paying for winpoker since i found you can change the games and paytables.

Also the trainer has option to use just the trainer to tell you what cards to hold or a warn option that tells you if you play wrong all while tracking stats for you.

    Good luck.

Outdated, not in the terms of its usefulness, but in terms of how dated the software is. It looks like something that should of come on a floppy disk!! Thanks for the suggestions all

Totally, agree, it looks clunky! But despite that, it has the best features for serious learning of the game. You can save custom paytables, do payback rate calculation, and hand analysis right on your phone.

WinPoker hasn't been updated in quite some time, and won't work on iPhone's or iPad's running iOS11 or later. I had WinPoker on my iPad, and it quit working 5 or 6 updates ago.

I use WinPoker on my iPhone with no issues. I'm running IOS 11.2.5. There are some hands I don't agree with, but I change my play according to their recommendation and it occasionally turns out to be a winning hand.
I use wizard of odds on my Macbook.

Just curious of some of the hands you don't agree with. VP math is not always intuitive. For DDB, one hold came to my mind fairly quickly that I could see people not wanting to hold it.

One hand I always hate is going for an inside straight without face cards or I hate holding jack, 10 suited instead of an Ace. Those two on the top of my head.

Yeah, I read your mind. Haha

I hate doing it too, unless I hit it of course. It's even more annoying to do it in deuces wild too. But it's also correct because you get paid half for the straight (10 coins) but you have double the "outs".

JT suited over Ace looks to be only at 9/6 or 10/6 DDB, but ideally you're playing those games!

WinPokerHD is a great app, telling you your mistakes, allowing you to analyse a tricky hand in the casino and also enter any pay table you want for a game.

    I really can't fault it.

I play mostly at CP, there's no 9/6 or 10/6 that I've found, it's usually 9/5. You don't need to tell me it's bad, I know.

Well, 9/5 is the best you'll get at DDB with CET. But you could hold the Ace instead of JT suited then. ;)

You could try to take a run at Super DDB though, that's 7/5 at CET for dollars+ (98.61%). It's one of their best games for "full points". WinPoker should definitely have that game in their library.

And it's fun when holds like this come in.

Interesting, must just be a problem with the iPad and not an iPhone. WinPoker had quit working some time ago on my iPad, so I deleted it. It said to contact the developer of the software to get them to update it. I tried to re-download it on the iPad from the App Store, and WinPoker doesn't even show up! So I searched the App Store on my iPhone for WinPoker, and it's there to purchase. Very weird, since both the iPad and iPhone are both running iOS 11.2.5! Hmmmm!

Hey all, I’m not looking to steal the thread but I’m headed to Cosmo next weekend. I’m a Craps/Pai Gow player and never played VP. I been practicing VP with the WinPoker app on my iphone. Which variation of VP would you recommend at Cosmo to maximize win and coin in potential? Where are the machines located with the best pay tables? Appreciate your input. Thanks.

Have a look at vpfree2.com which lists all the best pay tables at casinos nation wide.

Tough to find a low level game at cosmo with a good pay table, but depends on your bankroll I guess. You have probably found JOB or BP are the easiest games to learn and also have lowest variance - can get a bit boring though after a while

Maximizing win potential and maximizing coin-in are opposite things generally.

Wanna maximize coin in, I probably say play penny deuces wild on 100 play as its 98.91% max, lower variance, and you don't have to play all 100 lines to bet 5 on each line.

If you don't want to play deuces wild on that machine though, I would suggest Bonus Poker for low variance (will be on many machines and all bars).

For bigger win potential, I would either suggest quarter Super DDB (97.69%) or dollar DDB (97.87%). Or 9/5 TDB with Double Super Times Pay (97.51%), which is another game that you don't have to bet all lines to bet max. All 3 of these are available at some units at the sportsbook bar.
