So I have been pondering this for a while. On my last trip I blew for $125 in freeplay in a matter of minutes on a 2.50 max bet machine whose name escapes me (I won on the last bet for $5 and walked away. The trip though ended up with a hand pay on day two so take some, lose some).
Searched through the board and could not find a topic on this. So I am here to ask the group, what do you enjoy to play your free play with? I have enjoyed Top Dollar, Pinball and any x times pays games.

I use free play the same way I use my money making the same size bets I normally would. I have a friend who saves up his free play for the last day and max bets the $5.00 machines. Sometimes I come out ahead sometimes he does. So I guess it really doesn't matter. Just have fun with it.

I'm boring and like to use my freeplay to get cash to add to my bankroll, so I usually play it on whatever the lowest denom/best paytable combo Video Poker I can find, in hopes that I am likely to walk away with as much real cash as possible.

If I have a small amount of freeplay, like under $50 then I will put it into a bonus three-reel slot like Top Dollar, WOF, etc. and hope for a big payout!

We use free play to add to the next trip's bankroll. Before we go to bed on the last night of a trip, I'll take all our free play and play Double Double Bonus Poker. One pass through and cash out. Payback has ranged from 50% to 1000%.

I like to go bigger with my freeplay at the beginning of the trip. Usually a $5 denom 3 reel machine like pinball or top dollar. I hope for a nice start to my trip, and if nothing happens no big deal!

I don't have great returns on my freeplay, convert an average of 30-40% of FP into real cash.
I split my freeplay - half on $1 or $5 slots (3 reel) and the other half on pennies that interest me. I usually split it over two days just to convince myself I'm not a complete degen by blowing through it all in one sitting :bang:.

Top Dollar, Blazing 7's, X times pay, Willie Wonka, Lightning Links, 88 Fortunes (?), usually on my list.

I play my FP just the same as I do my cash play. $1 video poker @ $5/spin.

FYI GET used to require that u use all ur free play in one machine. So if u put $50 in and. Cash out after only $25 U lose $25.
U can ask fit ur free at In smaller denoms so u can move around more.

The machine treats it the same as cash. So, I play it the same as cash. If a $200 FP - that is $200 of play without digging into my pocket. I play on the same type of machines I play with cash.

Here is my trick, someone else mentioned it but I'll explain why. I use my free play to start the trip. No matter what you should be ahead for the trip right away with whatever you convert it to. So there is a psychological reason to do this.

I like to use my free play on good old fashion video poker. JOB, decent pay table, and I'll grind out at the max of 5 coins. I can usually turn $100 FP into 90 or so bucks.

So why VP? It should be the best return rate to get you the most real money converted from your FP. But here is the kicker, every club will give you reduced points for video poker. So if you normally play slots, take the "free" money from your VP conversion session and go play whatever slot you want. You'll have a better shot at real money AND you'll earn more points on your card with the money you withdrew from the VP machine.

I have a little over a $1,000 this trip and I'm either going to stick with the usual $5 DDB or maybe drop down to $2 DDB for more chances.. Always play it thru on the first day.

I normally run it through a $5 Double Diamond slot the first morning. This last trip I played a little of the 100 play quarter VP machine at PHO so I think next time I might see what will happen on it.

I like to save it for right before I leave and dump it into a Top Dollar machine in the high limit room. Quite literally, go big or go home. I know it's the same as any other dollar I feed into the machines, but it's fun. I never venture into the HL room otherwise.

normally video poke at a bar top. I have $75 on this next trip I will either play it til its gone unless I hit something big. Might just let my wife play it too as she brings a much smaller BR. Not sure what I want to do with the Mlife Credit card points yet. First time redeeming them. Not sure if they transfer over to express comps 1 to 1 or if free play is the better deal.
