Planning a four day Vegas getaway in November. I’m having difficulty deciding between the Tower Fountain View room at Bellagio, or the Augustus Strip View room at CP. No comps involved, and price isn’t a deciding factor between the two. We’ve stayed at CP before, but in the Palace tower. Any insight on pros and cons of each room, and how the rooms compare would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Both rooms are nice ans you can't really go wrong from that perspective. Beyond the rooms, though, bellagio is the better resort

Thanks! Out of curiosity, in your opinion what makes Bellagio a better resort? I’ve always had a high opinion of B, but hear some who say it has slipped since becoming an MGM property. For the record, we’ve never stayed there, only visited and dined :)

IMHO, the Augustus Strip view room isn't really a view of the strip, since the Augustus Tower faces Flamingo Blvd. In fact, if you get one of the rooms at the end of the hallway, you can barely see the strip.

If you want a good view of the strip, the Bellagio might be better, (though set back a bit).

I’ve never stayed at CP but am about to. I can’t compare but I can tell you why the Bellagio has been my home base for the last 6 or 7 years. Others may have different experiences but I have always had amazing service there. Every single time. Front desk, with the exception of my very first stay, goes out of their way to get me just the room I request. The first stay I wanted fountain view but was told none available. I checked my bags and waited. I checked back a few times and ended up with an outstanding room.

    Pluses
    • Great food options from the snack bar to Le Cirque
    • Fountain view with the music on the TV. You can see the fountains from several hotels but having the music in your room makes it like a personal show.
    • Conservatory and art gallery. You don’t need to leave the hotel to see great sites.
    • Afternoon Tea at Petrossian Bar
    • Great Pool
    • Location.
    • View from the room is iconic
    • Tram to Park MGM and Aria
    Minuses
    • Crowds! So many people come by to see the Chihuly glass ceiling and conservatory that it can be a mad house. People stop abruptly and are so busy photographing they don’t look where they are going. It is must frustrating when the club opens because you have both those groups clogging up the lobby.
    • The hike from any entrance to the room. After a few years and getting a suite a few times I learned that there are ddb rooms that connect to suites on the top floors. Last stay I asked for and received a ddb room on the suite floors so was able to use either the regular elevators when coming off the casino or the vip suite elevator off the lobby.
I am trying Mandalay Bay this time because my comp included resort fees where Bellagio offer did not. I am curious how the service and facilities compare.

Hope you have a wonderful trip no matter where you stay.

I second Bellagio being the better resort - stayed at both, all in all I like the choice of dining at Bellagio better than at Caesars, along with the casino floor somehow looking 'classier' but that's probably a personal taste.

When it comes to service, I'd rate Bellagio above Caesars, but that again might be due to me staying only once at Caesars - generally spoken, if you're looking for a nice view, it's either Bellagio fountain view or Cosmo fountain view.

Thanks! I’m glad to hear that the service at Bellagio is still up to par. I had heard mixed reviews about the level of service after Steve Wynn’s departure.

I've stayed in both. Even excepting the decline in service at Bellagio recently thanks to Profit Growth Plan and now MGM2020, the Augustus Tower room is simply better. Number one, it is larger when comparing it to a fountain view room. About the same size when comparing it to a Tower King (corner room). The actual closet is a plus, as is the jetted tub. Again, Bellagio's fv room doesn't have these things, while the Tower King does.

I much prefer the Bellagio casino, it is a better layout and I almost always win there. For high end restaurants, Bellagio wins. For sheer dining choices and entertainment options, Caesars wins. The pool at Caesars is far better and larger too.

My last stay at Bellagio was average and this was in a $1,600 a night (rack rate not what I paid) Grand Lakeview Suite. I can only imagine what it would be like in a regular room right now.

I like them both although I like the CP property overall a little more.

But if it's the "Tower Fountain View King" room at Bellagio that you're looking at, that's a slightly better room IMO than the Augustus one. The Augustus Strip View room does have a decent view, but if you're on one of the lower floors, you won't have a good view of the fountains, the surface of the lake will be blocked, you'll just see the top part of the spray.

I think the total SF of the floorplans is about the same, but the main part of the Augustus room felt a tad bigger. The Bellagio bathroom might be a little bigger than Augustus, that might account for the difference in feel.

I like the dining and bar options much better at CP than Bellagio, but I know that this is very subjective. I may be biased, because my favorite bar in Vegas is Montecristo at CP. In my opinion, Bellagio does not have any bar that comes even close to Montecristo.

As a general observation, I don't understand the complaint about service declining since WYnn sold the Belllagio. Even though the persons claimging that are, I am sure, genune in their complaint, it still makes no sense. The Bellagio has been open for almost 22 years and Steve Wynn ran the resort for less than 2 of them. Are people seriously making decisions where to stay based on the comparative level of service they received at Bellagio in the nineties??? There are plenty of reasons to complain about Bellagio (and CP), but this "level of service under WYnn" argumennt seems dated and no longer valid.

That’s a very good point. I’ve always enjoyed visiting Bellagio to view the conservatory and dine, and the level of service seemed pretty much on par with other resorts on the strip. I’m looking forward to giving their rooms a try! Thanks again for sharing your perspective.

Augustus standard rooms are 650 sq feet and feel like jr Suites with sofa and dining table. If the room is very important, I would choose that over a standard/fountain view at Bellagio.

Bellagio has a more luxurious feel overall and I like the casino better. It is still a high end property with great dining, and I agree the “it went downhill since SW left” attitude is about 20 years out of date.

I never had an issue with any kind of service at Bellagio except for a bit longer waiting time in the early morning hours due to lack of cocktail waitresses. Getting roomservice ordered in the HL area, host requests, desk, drivers/pickup or maid service - couldn‘t think of any negative experience. Same for dealers, pretty chatty and never experienced something weird or a situation where I had a wtf feeling.

Service at Bellagio has decline from 2017/2018 to today. It is currently ranked in the low to mid 60's out of 260 something properties on Trip Advisor. While TA and Yelp are far from perfect, barely cracking the top 25% of Vegas hotels is pathetic. In fact, aside from Aria Sky Suites, Skylofts, NoMad and Signature most MGM properties are ranked lower than their CR equivalents.

I chose Aria Sky Suites for our last Vegas trip in May (thanks to your recommendation). We were in a strip view penthouse (036), and I’m not sure if very many properties could compare to the accommodations or level of service at Aria Sky Suites!

We've stayed in both and I would choose the Bellagio Tower Fountain View.

The extra windows that the Bellagio TFV have really make it a nice room with gorgeous views. I love the giant window over the jetted tub. Also having the music to accompany the fountain show makes all the difference.

Bellagio furnishings overall feel just a little more luxurious. It's maybe a superficial thing, but the automated drapery button at Bellagio makes it feel more high end. Having to go over and open the draperies manually at CP felt like it wasn't as high end of an experience.

Don't get me wrong both are extra nice rooms, but the Bellagio TFV has some extra touches that sell it for me.

I haven't stayed at Bellagio this year yet, but it has been our home for 10 years. I have always service to be good. I will say that housekeeping could be a little more thorough, but whenever I have requested extra items they have been more than prompt at delivering them.
