Trips to Las Vegas

Hey everyone,

The wife and I and heading to Vegas on the 20th through the 23rd. Our first vegas trip together. **This is my 30th bday trip--bday on the 27th-- and we recently got married as well!! I've been to Vegas multiple times and she has only been once or twice, and when she went she didn't do much and didn't get to see a lot of things. So I'm asking for yalls help...

Here is what I have in mind so far--

Arrive in Vegas around 3 on Friday. Take uber/lyft to Bellagio so probably be there close to 3:30 3:45 is if everything goes smooth. What do y'all think the chances are getting a free upgrade at Bellagio? Definitely going to let them know it's my birthday trip and we just got married. Also will try the 20 dollar trick as well.

Get settled.

She wants to check the pools out. I know they have heated pools at the Bellagio, but are they heated enough to swim in. Anybody been recently that knows?? The hot tubs are up and running, correct??

After that walk the strip and gamble and see the sights.

I've found a groupon (or another coupon site) for a food and drink deal and Marg Ville so might eat that for dinner..thoughts?? Any good??

She wants to see a show Friday night and I do as well, but tickets are so damn expensive. What are my options for decently priced tickets to shows such as KA, O, and the others??

Saturday will be a lot of walking and casino hopping. Which casinos right now are offering new players rewards?? She will sign up for players card along the way and I figure at some places she might be able to get something.

We also want to do the High Roller. I know there are places offering discounted tickets, but are there any discounted tickets once you get there...in any of the magazines or anything?? Next question is--do they have a screening process before you get on the ride?? Such as would they go through my wife purse or anything like that? Could we bring airplanes bottles in her purse and break those out instead of doing the bar cart?? Thoughts??

Saturday night I believe we might go to a club. We are both 30--I'm 29 but might as well be 30. I've always wanted to go to marquee at cosmo, but we will play that by ear. How is HYDE at the Bellagio..more laid back, less crowded??

Sunday will be relaxing day-- Reservations as Carbone since i've heard great things about the place. More sight seeing and gambling. I think we will make this our downtown day. Any cool and must hit spots downtown?? Great place to eat??

Monday- heading home.

So that's all I can think of for now...I should be doing a trip report as well!!

Thanks for all the help!!

dong the bar cart

No wonder my bride wants to go back to the High Roller! :poke:

Congrats on your recent marriage and an early Happy Birthday, VegasMan15!
I loved our stay at Bellagio on our last trip (this past summer)! We didn't swim so--I can't--answer that question.
We stayed in the spa tower and had a nice fountain view. I can't remember if we tried the $20 trick when we arrived or not.

I am confident the rest of the VMB universe will chime in and provide more helpful answers than you have questions!
Best wishes!!!

Congrats on the upcoming birthday trip! It definitely sounds fun. :)

The $20 trick at Bellagio is unlikely to score anything. I would save my money but others here may have a different experience. January will be pretty cold out at the pools!

I scored half-priced tickets for the "bar car" on the High Roller via Travelzoo. Both Travelzoo and Groupon often run discounts. I have done the bar car twice and had good experiences both times. It's a good deal, and you can get a lot of drinks in a short amount of time. (Personally, I think that is the only way to ride the High Roller!) No one will be searching your wife's purse if you want to take one of the other cars. It's only a 30 minute ride anyway so you'll have plenty of time for drinks before and after.

Re: discounted show tickets... Discounts for "O" will be tough to come by. If you have any status at all with Mlife, get the tix for shows like "O" or Ka at the box office there at Bellagio. They can apply the discount on the spot and charge your tickets to the room. Opinions will vary but I really liked Ka. I also highly recommend Absinthe if you are up for some really edgy and rude humor.

Places like Tix4Tonight offer good deals but they can be hit or miss.

Good luck!

We got fountain view room with the $20 in May. But that was Mon (Memorial Day) and Tues night. Weekend will be less of a chance, but if there isn't anything going on that weekend you are going; fight, convention, trade show, etc. that would draw large amounts of people, that would improve your odds.

I am going nest week and we are going to O, we provided them with our MLife number and we got 15% off tickets. 2nd time going to see O, last time was about 10 or 12 years ago and it was really good. Seen KA and like this show a little bit better. As far as hot tubs go in January - all I can speak of are the ones at Aria are open and hot so I am sure the ones at Bellagio are the same. Good luck!

Big yes on Margaritaville......not 5 star dining but decent & fun place. We go every trip to have the volcano nachos & margaritas. I also love the crab/corn chowder.

Craigslist for tickets. I used that all the time for KA, zummanity etc. most of the people who work for the show pool their free tickets and then sell them on Craigslist. I have never had a problem with the tickets.

The B is not what it was. The $20 trick is worthless. They will take your $$and do nothing. Can't hurt to try for upgrade. NONE of the high price restaurants in or out of the hotels are worth it. You will love Pamplemousse on Sahara. great food reasonable prices. Wierd but nice server. The food at Eiffel Tower, also across the street is good. The place is touristy but worth it only if they will give you view of the B's fountains. Mon Ami, across the street can be good. Also touristy. Make a reservation and request patio when you get there. Morton's on Sahara is a value for LV. Terrific food but chancy service. Pool area @ B is great. "O" is the only show, in my view, worth the price. I'm told that the high roller is a waste of money. Much of it you see a wall. Have fun. A
