I've never been clubbing in Vegas, but I have been to Hyde during the day time. Based on what I've read about some of these other clubs and their multiple levels, number of bars, square footage, etc, I wouldn't think Hyde is big enough to rank anywhere near the top of that list.

I can't open the link. Forbes needs login. sh*t.
If TAO only makes twice much as Hyde, it has a big problem.

The article is based on 2014 earnings.

I am totally amazed that Hyde brings in that much. It is rather small. Very surprising.

And of course, those numbers do not indicate who is actually making money, if at all.

I am sure they are making money, but gross revenue and profit do not always run together.

Very true. With what they pay their DJ's at Omnia and Hakkasan... you're already out several million.

Hmm, I read this the exact opposite way. As in, "Wow, Hyde is in the top 10?!?" Despite it's small size and relative lack of distinguishing features.

Unfortunately that probably confirms MGM's decision to ditch the Fontana Bar and remodel it into a different target market. MGM likely happy with the results. And I would guess it was a much smaller capital investment than most (or maybe all) of the rest of that Top 10 list, so strong ROI on that remodel cost.

Good point, the author states in the paragraph XS *revenue* was $105M, but the table says "earnings". Author flunks Finance 101. I would guess XS and Hakkasan had high initial costs and the capital outlays significantly offset those revenues, even in the out years like now.

Given the likely high cost of building out big flashy places like Hakkasan, XS, and TAO, Hyde could very well be #1 on ROI (return on investment) on that list.

Disappointing, as my dream of Bellagio bringing back the relatively low key Fontana Bar-like patio overlooking the fountains is dying a slow death.

Something the Hyde seems to do from time to time is rent the entire place our for private functions. I am only guessing, but thinking they get a BIG BUCK for a few hours doing that. No idea how often they do that, but we have seen it a few times when walking by there.

Depends on the time of day. I went to a wedding reception that involved renting out the entire place for a couple of hours late afternoon. I'm sure it wasn't cheap, but knowing the couple I'm certain it wasn't BIG BUCKS, either.

    Earnings are from 2014.

Did not read article but does the stats include TAO nightclub and TAO beach? That could be why Tao is higher. Hyde is much smaller, almost like a lounge. I wouldnt consider it a nightclub. Cant really compare the 2.

Good, maybe they'll close it, remove those horrid plexiglass shields in front of the fountains and open it back up again like the Fontana Bar.

The report does not indicate actual EARNINGS which is what really counts (not just gross revenue).
Nor does it indicate earnings vs what the Fontana Bar earned.
