Better late than never I guess. There were a few items of significance that I really wanted to report on, not the least of which was the chance to meet and get acquainted with Chef. In his report he quite eloquently described it as "social intercourse" and we did enjoy a lengthy conversation which could have easily gone on for a few hours more had our get togethers not started so late.
Like Chef I also benefited from the $7 one way fare with Allegiant that I booked on 7-7-07 and which resulted in a grand total R/T for 2, of $221.60 and that included all the fees too.
Moving right along to the rental car which I had gotten thru Alamo, and using my ACG coupon, I started out with a rate of $145 including fees for 7 days and after 2 cancellations and rebooking 3 days before I left, my final rate was $109.
Room rates averaged $30 a day at the Orleans, Vegas Club and Gold Coast during the week and $52 a night at the Fitz on Fri, Sat.
We went to Mama Mia. Great show at half price. It would be worth it at full price.
A few notes on the Orleans. They have been starting to take a bit away on their mail offers and VP paybacks. Now they do not give out the funbooks on every stay either. We stayed one night at Gold Coast and found the room to be quite nice so they might be a new alternative. As many of you know they have changed their point system to coin-in and are giving triple points until Jan 14, 2008. Well it so happened that Nov was my birthday month, and the Coast Casinos had in previous years credited 2500 points just for playing anytime during your birthday month. However when I played this time I was credited with 7500 points and not only at the Orleans, but also at the Gold Coast. I guess birthday point must have been tripled too. Such a deal.....so much so that I won't complain too loudly about them yet.
The Video Poker players will appreciate this little tidbit that happened one night at 4 Queens. I was playing VP at the bar and this blonde was playing Dueces Wild next to me and she was dealt 2 dueces with 3 low cards. She held the 2 dueces and a nine. Her husband/boyfriend asked why she didn't just hold the 2 dueces. Her reply. "This way I know I have a sure 3 of a kind".
The Gambling - A new machine that several of the casinos now have is video roulette in penny to $1 denominations. I played the nickel version 3 different times, ended up even, but had alot of fun. On the video poker front, which I mostly play, maybe the best ever. Four Aces twice in bonus poker, 4 Dueces twice playing dueces wild, 3 Straight Flushes not playing dueces wild, 4 twos, 4 threes, 4 fours, all with the kicker in DDB, and so many other various 4 of a kinds I lost count. The only thing I didn't get was a Royal Flush, I wasn't even close that often, so as a result I didn't win much but I did win a little. And for 7 days that ain't bad. All in all it was a fun trip.
Here's wishing all of you a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays whichever you prefer, and particular well wishes to Chef Andy and everyone else who I had the pleasure of finally getting to meet this past year. Looking forward to meeting more of you next year.
