OK, went to BASS Proshops and bought a shirt for myself, a shirt for my ex-wife, and coffee for my ex-wife's BF. "Beyond Black", from the Black Rifle Coffee Company.
    upload_2021-1-6_20-11-24.png

Went to Harrahs paid off the marker, and bought cupcake soaps for my FGFs tomorrow. BFF is leaving, so all day will be FGF day.

    Example of a cupcake soap.
    upload_2021-1-6_20-12-22.png
    So, if you're keeping score,

Sandy - cupcake soap and a Target gift card
Elma - Cupcake soap and CNY candy
Jenny - Cupcake Soap and California Sparkling Wine
Iris (if I see her) - just some business. She hasn't graduated to PFGF yet.

After that, I made my way downtown and parked at Garage Mahal, the parking garage connected to Circa. It was nice, well-lit, and clean, and also empty.
    upload_2021-1-6_20-23-26.png
    upload_2021-1-6_20-24-8.png
The only place that validates is Barry's. Since we were going there for dinner, I parked in Garage Mahal.
Here's the view from the bridge
    circa_GM03.jpg circa_GM04.jpg circa_GM05.jpg circa_GM06.jpg
We played a little. I spent $200 and that was it for me, it was time for dinner.
    BFF ordered the
16 OZ. CENTER-CUT NEW YORK SIRLOIN
    Greater Omaha Farms, Omaha, NE
    Barrys_16oz_sirloin.jpg
    I ordered
    14 OZ. BONELESS RIBEYE
    Revier Cattle Co., Olivia, MN
    Barrys_14opz_ribeye.jpg
I specifically wanted BFF to try WHOLE MAINE LOBSTER MAC 'N CHEESE
    Barrys_LobsterMacCheese.jpg
We didn't order dessert, but I was surprised with a birthday shortcake. A nice touch
    Barrys_birthday_dessert.jpg
The total bill came to $208. Much more expensive than Andiamo's. But still very, very good.

BFF declined to go to Area 15, and I was feeling a little bit peaked, and I have a llllloooonnnnggg day tomorrow.

Before I sign off, let me give you my opinion of the new system in place at V/P.

    Pros
1)The hotel is nicer, with big rooms
2)Resort fees are optional, and $20 a night for Wi-fi is well worth it to me

    Cons
1)The point earning system, while fair, is difficult to gauge. No more $5=1TC like at CET
2)It's only one (well, maybe two) property. Macau properties don't count
    3)No buffet
4)Restaurants are expensive, but there are some medium and lower priced restaurants

I made it halfway to the third tier (Grazie Elite) in one day of really poor slot play. IMHO, it would've been the equivalent of a 1200-2000 CET point day..

First to second level is 1,000 TC, and the only thing (of note) that 2nd level gets is the ability to earn Grazie Gift points, but if you're playing at that low a level, why would you accumulate GGP anyway? You do get an extra hour for checkout, but the real action starts at Third level (Grazie Elite). You get 2PM checkout, and complimentary view upgrade, with VIP check-in. They apparently did away with the free airport shuttle at that level.

So, all in all, I find it "better" than CET, and equal to mLife and Cosmopolitan.

OK, that being said, and I'm sure that I'll get lots of comments, I'll bid you all good night . . . .

OK, FGF #1 (chronological order) taken care of. I woke up at 5 after getting a solid 7 hours of sleep, and decided to take care of Sandy first, so I drove downtown to where she worked and we did a gift exchange. Now I know why I didn't buy a hat this trip. Look at what she gave me!!
    upload_2021-1-7_6-16-35.png
I'm all set for the frigid LV weather. I gave her the cupcake soap and the gift card. She tried to refuse, but I told her that until she returns to regular hours, she is to expect presents from me on each trip. She got two Graveyard shift this week. She had three scheduled, but another woman (who had more seniority than her 10 years) took it.

Anyway, 6:15 AM, and I will go back to bed. I've decided that I will commit to the January 24th trip to NY-NY. I guess I need to be in "protect" mode that whole trip.

"Protect mode", means that I put $100 ($200 tops) into a machine, and if I don't hit a bonus, I move on. There are also strict daily limits in force. Yeah right, since when have I ever stuck to a "strict daily limit?" I guess I'll have to fill the trip with FGF activities. Lunch at Lotus of Siam is tentative for Sandy and maybe dinner with Elma (if lunch works out).

    OK, see you later . . . . .

Well, it just goes to show you that a my age, if you cast the net far enough and enough time, you'll net something. So, I drove down to Searchlight, and for there at 9:20 and they weren't open. I decided to wait until 9:30 or 10AM. Sure enough Iris's car drove up, but she wasn't driving (I'm guessing it was her Mom). So I walked in and we chit-chatted about the honey getting confiscated in my carry on, and she felt bad about that because she normally mentions it to everyone who is flying that they have to check it. She promised me the next time that I drove down that it was "on her".

I made a purchase, verified that she only worked at the store Thursday and Friday, and I said "maybe next time we can have lunch?" She said "sure. Call me when you're coming down". So another PFGF to add to the list. I'm not sure where she lives, but her car had Nevada tags.

Anyway, made it back to BASS pro shops to exchange my shirt, and they had just gone on sale, so I got an exchange and $7.00 back. What a deal!! Yes, XL is much roomier and looser, and I'll probably wear it to lunch.

I'll leave here at about noon, to get downtown by 12:30. Lunch should be interesting.

I emailed my host at the D to find out what was going on with the comps last night. I THOUGHT that I had a food comp that could be used at Circa, but for some reason, the January food comp didn't show. Luckily I was up so the $100 that I had to pay at dinner last night didn't hurt.

So, lunch today with Elma, then either the Hunger Games exhibition (tickets on sale now for 33% off), or back to the room for a nap. In any case, no gambling today.

    See you after lunch.

Well, I'm gonna stick more to a description of the restaurant rather than my conversation with Elma. She has the potential to be an RGF (Real Girl Friend) and I don't want to jinx it.

8 East is a "typical" Circa restaurant. Derek Stevens spent $1B on building Circa, and that means that there's a lot to pay back.

I found 8 East to be "Las Vegas adequate" for Asian food. Here is the menu
    upload_2021-1-7_20-35-5.png upload_2021-1-7_20-35-56.png
    upload_2021-1-7_20-36-29.png
We ordered (sorry no pictures. I was so involved talking with Elma that I didn't remember.
    Duck Roll
    Crispy Pork Belly Bacon
    Sizzling Shrimp
    Sizzling Noodles

Neither the noodles or shrimp "sizzled", but they all tasted good. I let Elma take home the leftovers. The total bill (including tip) was $75.00. A little more than I'm used to paying for food of this quality, but it IS Circa.

I'm going to leave it at this . . . . I now have Elma's phone number and work schedule and I am welcome to text/call her when I come to town. I also know her daughter's name and the company that she works for in my home town. (Not like I'm going to be stalking her or anything like that)

I was (emotionally) exhausted from my lunch with Elma. So, I will put off the Hunger Games exhibition for a future trip, the special is:
Book now to March 31st for any visit in 2021
$30 Adult Tickets | $21 Child Tickets (Includes Fees)

    Regularly $45 for adult.

We hit it off well (my opinion), Went back to the room and took a nap, gotta regain energy for Sushisamba with FGF Jenny.

Oh, and one thing I will share . . . I now have a date for Hugo's Cellar.

Woke up at 4PM, and took off on a drive. Called BFF and shared with him the details of lunch with Elma. I was determined to get to Palazzo between 5:30 and 6PM, leaving me little incentive to gamble. I ended up getting there at 5:15, so I took a walk around the Galleria stores on the second floor.

Stopped at the Gondola shop and bought some things
    upload_2021-1-7_20-51-52.png
Then went back to Sushisamba and sat at the bar, waiting for Jenny.

I had a $200 custom comp via Playstudios, which was applied to the ENTIRE bill (including alcohol), but, we were charged tax since this wasn't a direct casino comp.

I think we did pretty good, as the bill came to $196 and change, leaving me just the tip to pay (in cash)
    Here is the vegan menu
    upload_2021-1-7_20-54-4.png
    Jenny had
    Shishito Peppers
    upload_2021-1-7_20-55-7.png
    A salad
    upload_2021-1-7_20-55-48.png
    I had Yellowtail Sashimi
    upload_2021-1-7_20-57-25.png
I pretty much stuck with sushi ikura ()salmon eggs), Yellowtail, and yellowtail handroll. The yellowtail was fresh and sweet!

    upload_2021-1-7_20-57-10.png
    Jenny then added Robata Mushrooms
    upload_2021-1-7_21-0-47.png
and asparagus (she encouraged me to eat some, which i dutifully did)
    upload_2021-1-7_21-0-16.png
    and avocado nigiri
    upload_2021-1-7_21-2-32.png
I had a second round of nigiri, ikura and another yellowtail handroll
    upload_2021-1-7_21-3-1.png
We were stuffed, but my host (Playstudios) let them know it was my birthday, and they brought out dessert.

We then rolled down to my car so I could give her the cupcake soap and bottle of sparkling wine.

So not it's only 7:30. A little too early to go back to the hotel, so I crossed another thing off my bucket list, Area 15.

Area 15 is off of Spring Mountain Rd. just west of the I-15.

    https://www.area15.com/

They opened late last year with only a handful of stores/exhibits open. It is free to enter, but most all of the value add items are "pay as you go".

I went over there to do a couple of things.

1)Buy something for my son to honor his passing the driver's permit exam
2)Verify the weight of the throwing axes

Here are some pictures of Area 15
The entrance "tube" from the outside doors you enter this space

The weight of a throwing axe is 1-1/4 lb.

Jobs completed, I headed back to the Delano. I'm going to go to sleep after I finish this TR, and if I wake up at 4AM, I will take the 6AM flight. If not, I will proceed to my regularly scheduled 11:25AM flight.

Thank you all for following along. It's been a wonderful birthday trip.

So, let me say this about the accommodations. IMHO, taking Delano as a Playstation comp is the perfect thing If you need a "break" from gambling. The casino is far enough away from the hotel that you don't even notice that it's, yet it's within walking distance if you want the amenities.

I finished my "protect day" the same way I finished the last trip, 36 hours with no gambling, but the different is that this time I was up.

Woke up too late to take the 6AM plane, but I now have a leisurely morning to get packed and to the airport. Breakfast might be at Blueberry Hill or another non-casino venue.

Just found out that the January 24th trip is now in jeopardy, because my work may not be approving PTO requests if they include travel that will incur a quarantine upon return.

The lady told me that " . . .little kids throw the axe . . ." However, the cost is what gets me. $38.00 per person per hour?? I mean, fun is fun, but even bowling doesn't cost that much.
