Sad that so many of the iconic moments involve tragedy. We were in Vegas shortly after the shooting and will never forget seeing the crosses on the strip and the broken windows at MB. Probably our most memorable happened in April 99 when we were on our way to LV and had a plane change in Denver. We got off the plane and noted hundreds of people standing around any available TV. Took about 15 minutes to realize they were watching the Columbine aftermath. The plane trip from Denver to LV was about the quietest plane I've ever been on.

Was there August 2017 week of "The Money Fight" between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. We left Friday afternoon so wasn't there for the actual fight. However, every day that week the energy of Vegas seemed to multiply. Come Thursday and Friday (before we left) it was the busiest I have ever seen and the amount of high rollers gambling and shopping and just general cash being spent was crazy.

I was in Vegas when the KA performer fell to her death. Was playing the Lion's Share machine the next morning, and heard about it from a couple of CWs.

I was also in Vegas then the Lion's Share jackpot finally hit!! We had went to see Carrot Top that night, and just as the show was ending, we got a disturbing text from our daughter. Our plans were to head over to MGM to play the Lion's Share after the show, but with the news we received, my wife was not ready to head over there, so we stopped in the food court to get a drink and get our wits about us. We eventually decided to just head back to our hotel at the Rio for the night. We later found out that the jackpot hit around the time we would have been at the MGM. So, either we would have been the ones to hit it (fairly unlikely), or at least we would have been there to see it finally hit!

We were walking through the MGM while they were filming Las Vegas Vacation. They were filming the Keno Lounge scene. As we were walking through, they cameras were rolling and they were instructing us to walk through and act normal (which was tough for us). We couldn't wait for the release of the movie. We circled back and walked by several times. Went opening night...to our disappointment...we must have been left on the cutting room floor.

Maybe not to iconic but will remember forever.....I live in St. Louis and root for Mizzou was playing pai gow poker and watching the NCAA basketball tourney. Missouri was playing UCLA, for basketball fans you know the end of the story. Damn Tyus Edney goes coast to coast to beat MIZZOU at the buzzer. The rest is history as UCLA goes on to win the National Championship. I do think I won on the under of the game. Still stings!

If you find that photo let me know. I was on the top side of the escalator waiting for Michael to exit the trick shop and eventually he did.
If your angle was up the escalator you probably got my head looking down.
Didn't know who the Michael was until I asked a clerk in another store who everyone was waiting for to come out of the trick shop.
As Michael and like makikiboy said he came by in a line with his entourage. As we were about face to face I blerted out "Hey MJ!" he says "Hiiiii" in his high decibel voice.

    - One of the last craps players at the DI prior to it closing with Don’t Stop Believin’ playing in the background (just wanted to roll the dice, 1 more time!)
    - Don Rikkels grabbed my cheek as he walked by our hekklar table at the DI show lounge
    - Shook hands with Donald Sutherland (iconic for me, one of my fav actors)
    - Shook hands with Lance Burton in front of the MC one afternoon out for a walk, right after shaking he says "now, disappear"

I was at that fight with my brother and Dad up in the bleacher seats. We saw him circling around before the tv cameras picked him up and as he got lower and lower, we were thinking there is no way this guy is going to try to land inside the ring, is there? Still one of the craziest things that I have ever seen in person.

That was October 1999. Earlier that evening in So Cal, we celebrated my dad's 60th birthday and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins joined us for dinner. Some of them were from Hawaii and also wanted to see Vegas while they were here, so those of us that were over 21 took three cars and drove out when we finished eating. I think it was already past midnight when we arrived. I stayed at the El Cortez with my folks and a few other relatives. The other half of our group checked in at the Golden Nugget.

My dad called home to let my brother know that we arrived safely and as soon as they began talking, I could hear my brother's voice shouting out "earthquake!" over the receiver. Seconds later, our room starts shaking too and we could hear panicked voices out in the hallway. My cousins called from the Golden Nugget reporting the quake caused the fire sprinklers on their floor to go off, so everyone had to leave their rooms until they were shut off and the water mopped up.

We were stunned to think it was the same quake felt by my brother in California. It turned out to be over 7.0 on the Richter scale with the epicenter out in the desert near Barstow.

My dad and I were at the MGM Grand fight card where Marco Antonio Barrera beat the previously undefeated Prince Naseem Hamed to win the world featherweight championship. After it was over, they announced that some filming for a movie would be taking place and if anyone wanted to stick around to help fill out the crowd shots, they didn't have to leave yet. My dad was anxious to get back to gambling, so we bailed. It turned out to be the fight scene for "Ocean's 11" - d'oh!

That was a scary one all right. I was home in So Cal sleeping when my bed seemed to bounce as if someone was jumping on it. It was still dark out and through the window, I could see power lines swinging into each other and shooting out these crazy electrical arcs that looked like lightning. Crazy stuff!

I watched a documentary about a casino heist. It was so well done that I felt like I was in town when a crew of highly organized professional thieves robbed the Bellagio when it was owned by Terry Benedict.

Does a quick blackout at El Cortez count. I’ve never seen it so dark. I was cashing out chips when bam, total darkness. It took around 20 seconds for power to come back. The cashier told me it’s normal since the place is old. Seems nobody lost their credits in the slots.

Your friend is lucky. CC would’ve probably kicked his ass without any help.

I have no idea the setup or backend setup of the slots, but if I were setting it up the data would probably stored on a server and the server room is highly likely to have hours of runtime on UPS and/or a generator. Slot goes down due to power? It reconnects to server and finds the session data and appears as though nothing ever happened... maybe the last spin would be lost, but that's about it.

It was a funny story, witnessed by a few current/former VMBers.

That reminds me of my first trip to Vegas in 2008. My wife's best friend and her husband took us and showed us around, and at one point we were at the Flamingo. I needed to make a pit stop, and we were back near the north entrance that used to lead into an alley (it is now the Linq Promenade). That was a pretty dead area at the time, and the bathrooms were a bit out of the way. I walk into an empty bathroom, and proceed to go about my business. I hear someone walk in and walk up to the urinal next to mine. Make a quick glance over, and see that it is MJ. He had one body guard in there with him that was standing off to the side. Had a very brief conversation (to this day the only one I have shard this conversation with is my wife, and it is going to stay that way!), washed my hands, and left the restroom. As I walk out, there is a whole bunch of people standing there with their cameras ready. I wave and smile, and walk over to where my wife and friends are. I tell them who I just saw in the restroom, and they didn't believe me, so we waited until he came out. The funny thing is that not one person took a picture when he walked out! Everyone stood there, frozen, not moving. It was pretty funny! Needless to say, once he walked past us, my wife and friends believed me! Definitely a very iconic moment!!! (For me, at least!)

Sorry, my picture was only of MJ. He was going down the escalator so I only got a picture of his upper body and face.

Yeah, I gotta go through all my old photos and digitize them.

i was in vegas during the 1 oct 2017 shooting, playing a pokertournament at Flamingo ..shit was going down and i finished third(cashing in) but place was on lock down, after almost 2 hours i was fed up with it all(as they didnt let anybody out) and sneeked out of one of the side entrances and had to walk towards linque(as at cromwell there were swatcars police and military) than crossover and walk back to my bally's it was very eery to see streets empty and casino empty.
